They are all great. I would start with vol 1 then 2 then 3 well you get the idea. I have 1-6 and I am very happy with all of them. I heard 7-9 are not that good but I do not have these to verify that. Good luck.

This has been discussed several times here on the Café, A search should turn up tons of results. Now since that's out of the way. I like all the dvd's in the set of 9. Normally volume 2 is a favorite.

I was wondering the same thing when I first saw them. I went to a magic shop in san diego where the guy there told me he thought the best was four and I must admit the material is wonderful. But I cant vouch for the others so you'll need to get a fourth opinion.

For having the complete set, I would really recommend the DVD 2, 3 4, and 9.
I don't really like the 8th volume as it is quite different from the other ones as presenting card tricks with objects, previous preparation etc... You can't be wrong with any of the series and sure will include some tricks in your repertoire as they are classic tricks with simple and strong effect. |

I really enjoyed Vol 4. Lots of useful stuff. I own vol 1 and 3, but vol 4 has about 4 effects I would do with confidence. Keep in mind, I don't like long drawn out effects, I like effects that move along quickly and have a good punch to them. Doing a long card trick is much like telling a long joke to someone. It's hard to keep their attention and focus.

I have 1-6 so far, and enjoy all of them so I don't really have a favorite. All of them have a variety of tricks, so you should be able to find something that suits you in any of the videos.

When I asked this question, they guy at the shop said... 1,2,5.
In that order. I think he was right on.

I have a question: What year were the first volumes released? I've heard conflicting dates.

I like the 1st three. After that, I just could not get into them. The material is good on all of them, but the 1st set has the best.

#1 has some great effects, but I think #2 is stronger. I would go for #2, #1 in that order, then the others, but that's me. You should really look at the descriptions of the effects, and see which collection suits what you want to do the best.

Anyway, very difficult to recommend which one is the best as every DVD has a variety of different effects, no special theme. In each DVD you'll find some classic tricks, some with very easy sleights, others with more advanced sleights but always well explained.
Like every time with magic, a trick may fit with one repertoire style but not be adapted with others. The sure thing is if you're beginner / intermediate you'll find very useful material and leverage your level working on. Look at the posts, they're is no majority for one DVD but large choice. Anyway, not sure this posts helps you in chosing one... |

I own all nine volumes as well... although I haven't worked on any of the material from the last three volumes yet.
My favorites are 1, 2 and 5 (so far). |

I have the entire set and my top 2 favourites would have to be Vol 1 and 2.

I have all nine volumes. Volume 2 is the best in my opinion followed by Volume 1. Volumes 5 and 6 are good. Volume 3 is easily the worst in my opinion. Everyone is different in terms of the tricks that appeal to them but personally I can say that I regularly do four of the nine tricks on volume 2. I perform 3 tricks from Volume 1. But from the rest I have chosen only one or two or none. I am inclined to agree Volumes 7-9 are a little weak.
