A couple years ago or so, I visited http://www.doughenning.com, and it said "we are currently in the process of redesigning this web site"
Well, I took another look tonight, and it is still the exact same thing! My Lord, how long does it take to re-design a web site? Or has ol' Doug just been forgotten and dropped from memory? This is sad. Very sad.

He makes a cameo on a poster in the new movie the "40 year old virgin". So not totally forgotten.

Why don't you e-mail them. Send your concern to them. I am thinking the same thing. What is up with that.

Don't want to sound mean or anything. But what a waste then. I mean come on. Lets get someone that is going to do it justice and honor one of the greats.

Man, somebody SOMEWHERE should be able to remedy this situation with his web site.

Daffy - someone must be paying the hosting bill for this site - therefore, whoever put it up should still know it exists.

A whois of the domain shows the owner:
Registrant: Presto Productions 25W102 Setauket Naperville, IL 60540 US Apparently, this is a company that specalizes in creating websites for magicians, with a testimonial from Mark Wilson. Looking over their website, I found this quote concerning the Doug Henning site: Quote:
This is a tribute site to one of the most influential magicians of all time. We are in the process of redesigning this site. We plan to launch the new site FALL 2001 Their site has a contact form, if it means that much to you I imagine you could go there and get in contact with them and inquire about when they will update the Doug Henning site. It's a placeholder, they're waiting until somebody really wants to do a Doug Henning site, and then they'll gouge them on the purchase of the domain name.
It's a disease that's rampant on the net, and magicians who deserve more respect aren't immune. In other words, nothing is in the works for this site, until somebody sincere comes along and decides the purchase of the domain name from these folks is worth Dougs memory. |

If someone really wants to do a site why don't they register doughenning.ca ( he was Canadian after all ) or doughenning.org..etc and then build their own tribute site???
OR...hows about the site be used as a hub for the push to get Henning his own star on Canada's walk of fame? Best, Tim |

I also have checked on that link over the last couple of years Daffy. You are right about nothing happening regarding the makeover. Thanks for getting a 'whois' on the domain JoeJoe. I heard Tim's recommendation loud and clear:
"If someone really wants to do a site why don't they register doughenning.ca ( he was Canadian after all ) or doughenning.org..etc and then build their own tribute site???" I WILL DO JUST THAT. I just love the voice of reason I have tons of information on Doug Henning and some photos (most I've seen on the net and some I haven't). All the collected information and photos I have tucked away on my personal website which isn't public. I think it's time to push it out onto a public site as it does belong to all who seek it out. ARE YOU FELLOWS AND OTHERS WHO READ THIS WILLING TO CONTRIBUTE INFORMATION, WEB LINKS (I MEAN ANY & ALL LINKS HENNING RELATED), PHOTOS, STORIES, AND ANYTHING COVERING HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO MAGIC? No information or photos are unimportant. Spread the word on the Café and feel free to contact me here via PM or e-mail me at: lunchwithhuckfinn@yahoo.com Regards, Randy Stewart |

Hey Guys,
doughenning.com is not a dead site! It's a work in progress that has taken way to long to finish. It is something that I have been working on in my spare time over the past years and I tend to be too much of a perfectionist at times and didn’t want to release it until I was happy with it. I have set a goal to finally launch the site on May 3, 2006 in honor of Doug’s birthday. At that time I hope to make a very special announcement regarding something that all Doug Henning fans will be very excited about. In the meantime here is what I need to finish the site… 1) I am working on a Doug Henning timeline. Please send me any information that you think should be included on this, if you don’t have an exact date for an event the year will be fine. 2) I also am working on an IMDB type list of all the TV appearances Doug made. I need show name, and air date. If you have a copy of the show let me know. 3) I want to create an online database of all the press written on Doug. Let me know what articles you have and if you can scan them. 4) Photo Gallery, I have a large amount of photos of Doug, but I know more are out there. Let me know what you have and if you can scan and email them to me. 5) Anyone that has worked with Doug on the TV shows or toured with him, please contact me. Those are the main things I need help with right now. Once the site launches, it will be set up so that everyone can start to contribute to the site with their memories of Doug. If you can help, please contact me at ideas@doughenning.com Thanks, Greg Mulvey Creative Director Presto Productions http://www.prestoproductions.com |

I've been collecting Henning ephemera, books, videos, props, etc for many years, and I wouldn't even consider sending stuff to a blind destination, even if it's just information.
Why not launch the site with what you've got, and then solicit more information from those who might have it? Also, you havn't indicated if this will be a commercial site with you benifiting from it, or strictly an academic site (as in absolutely no banners) done as a labour of love....all of these things matter when you're asking people to send you things. You've asked for a lot from people in your post, please let us know more about what it is you intend to do.....teasers about "special announcements" don't really say much. |

With almost 4 years passed and NO updates to the site I imagine you can understand our skepticism regards the henning site. We're wishing you well but will believe it when we see it. Your own website also mentions a new henning update in 2001. Maybe that site should be updated as well. Best, Tim |

It seems, based on what the current content is, the prime purpose of http://www.doughenning.com was to sell merchandise, although sold out for a couple of years now.
There's a commercial banner link to Ellusionist, a link to Google's AdSense, and a couple more banner links, all of which usually compensate the web site owner. It doesn't currently look, nor show a history of, a true labour of love in memory of Doug Henning, and it certainly doesn't seem appropriate for Henning fans who may have spent years and dollars to acquire their collection items and information to send them to you simply becuase you've asked. I wish you no ill will, but stand by my original post, http://www.doughenning.com is not an active web site, and for over four years has acted as a commercial placeholder for the domain name. |

Hey guys,
I totally understand your skepticism! This site just became one of those things that I worked on when I had the time, but never felt it was complete enough to put online. I’ve realized now that I need to just be happy with it and open it up for the world to see and to contribute too. I’ve set a deadline and will stick to it. I have updated the site as well... http://www.doughenning.com When the site does launch, if you have anything you would like to add please contact me. I will be very grateful for whatever you have to contribute. Thanks, Greg |
