I saw in a video a guy deck the pack of cards and after he did a flourishy cut (the sibling), he tossed the deck into the air about a foot and it landed back in his hands. What is this move called and where can you learn it?

I'm not sure if I know what you're talking about, but I have an idea. I think there's a clip of that on http://www.superhandz.com in the beginning of the clip called "Flipback advanced." Go check it and tell me if it's the move you're talking about. If so, it may be in Jerry Cestkowski's book "Encyclopedia of Playing Card Flourishes." Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

You could also be referring to what is known as the "deck flip." I'm pretty sure that it's taught in Jerry Cestkowski's book. Jerry also has included a nice 4 Ace Production if you learn it.
I believe that I have also seen the Deck Flip in Dan & Dave Buck's Lecture Notes. |

I do a version where I throw the deck to a spectator and I can get it to fly about 14 feet fully intact, (and perfectly squared). Hold the deck in dealer's grip in the left hand. With the right hand, pull back the top and bottom cards half way. Hold the deck with these cards sticking out, and throw. Experiment and you'll get it to work. I also enjoy tossing the deck behind my back and catching it. YAY

Here is a suggestion....try squaring the deck and then give the deck a snap. This will force the air out from between all the cards and allow then to be tossed with a MUCH higher probability that they will stick together.

The deck flip (a TG murphy's move) is on the site of the Bucks brother. (I think it's http://www.dananddave.com). But their site has changed a bit. They included this flip into the molecule cut/production.
If you don't find it, PM me. Jonathan. |
