As said before, I use a 1-10, with 10 being PERFECT rating scale. Just so you know as well NOTHING EVER gets a 10. 10 is absolute perfection, and NOTHING, and NO ONE is Perfect. 9.5 is my highest rating. I ONLY write 10, just to show how close something can come to being PERFECT. I judge on The Tricks, (Impact), Technique, Teaching Style & Understanding, and Video Quality, such as Camera Angles...ECT.
1) This 'N' That - You show four business cards with each one having a M-I-N-D. They pick a letter. They pick a card that says THAT CARD, while all the rest says THIS CARD, or sometimes reversed. It just takes one easy fundamental card move. To be honest this didn't hit me hard, the reason being, is that you have a one in four chance. Now if you could repeat this, which I don't think you can, it would be much better I think. I rate this a (6). 2) Lorayne's Buck - You have a dollar bill picked out of a few. You seal the borrowed dollar bill in a envelope. You right the person's name on it. You add three other unmarked pay envelopes. You turn your back, and they switch the envelopes around, till you are able to eliminate all but the dollar bill envelope. They take out the dollar bill and you have them concentrate on the serial number which you identify. To me that's the best part. To me personally I'm not into complicated mentalism, such and stuff involving mentalism. By now the public knows proccess of elimination, and mathematics though they may not know the exact workings. If I did this, I'd find a way to skip the ENTIRE first part. I think the girl messed up, as she was moving two with one hand. I don't think she understood that the number meant moves not envelopes. I rate this a (7.5) 3) Add A Number - I was surprised at the audience's reaction, and mine too. This was good. As I said I hate mathematical type of Magic and Mentalism. At first even add a number tricks UNTIL I saw that. I think like him if you drive home the fact that what you are doing is no way mathematical, such as saying if someone chose a different number even off by a digit my prediction would be off...ECT. Basically four people pick numbers, they are added to get a total. You then open a precdiction that has been in full view and it matches. I rate this a (8.5). 4) ESP Opener - You show a card with 5 ESP symbols, and have some one think of one. You then tell then the one they thought of. You then circle one as part of a prediction. That the spectators hold face down. You then show five cards. They pick one. You show the four symbols they didn't pick. You then show the one they picked, and it matches the circled prediction. Again you got one out of five but I like the beginning as it makes it sronger. I rate this a (8). 5) PK Writing - This is probably the best on this tape. Someone writes a word in a box. You then tear it but before so, You write a through c. They name one letter, and on the other side of the folded slip, your prediction matches. Anyway you start tearing it up into pieces. You give them the pieces and they finish tearing it up. You then proceed to "get" impressions of the letters. You take a blank business card and put it on the table with a pen. You cover it with a scarf. All of a sudden people see the pen start writing under the scarf. You then put the scarf and pen away and their chosen word is written on it. This really, REALLY kills. Now the whole a-c thing I think takes from it a little bit. Also as you get the information, and what you do as you get it I think people might pick up on. You will need a prop to buy in order to do this which is maybe ten bucks. To me, I'd force a card. I'd then take a stack of business cards show the front and back via a DL, and go on with the scarf. That's me though. I rate this a (9) despite a couple of the above reservations. 6) Loco Logo - To me this I REALLY LIKED. It's VERY CLEVER. I'd use it with a dozen playing cards though as I couldn't find them logos. You basically show a empty envelope with the exception, of one miniature card in it. that's put aside. You go through and show the logos. They freely pick one (YES NO FORCE). You place the FREELY CHOSEN design aside. The miniature card inside matched the prediction. I give this a (9). 7) Picture Duplication - At first I thought people would pick up on this, but I've been succesively doing this like crazy and it FRIES people. Here's a link to my version posted here at inner thoughts. http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=82 , It's also EASY too. Someone draws a animals or mineral, or something (?) else in a box. You at all times keep it face down, and NO you can't see through the cards. It is replaced on top of the stack of cards, and you seemingly read their minds and tell them what they drew. Not hard at all. This gets a (9). 8) Number Duplication - Basically the same as the top except with a number. I like the above **** better though. Not bad though. I rate this a (7.5). This wasn't a bad DVD at all. I think he's a very GREAT PERFORMER, but a part of me thinks we just saw the tip of the Iceberg with this and part two. (I got part two which I like better and will be reviewing soon). As he posted in response to my RAVING review of his psychokinetic silverware to someone, he wrote something to the effect that he doesn't use this material so often. Forgive me if I misread that. This stuff is good, but I think his other stuff is probably a lot more powerful. He has great patter, and charm. I have 1 & 4 of the Osterlind series, and no offense I like them both and have PMed them both...ECT, but the Osterlind series has a little bigger impact and is a little more straight-forward. I really like Banachek's Silverware stuff a lot. He shines there. He's good. I rate this tape a (7.5-8). BUT THIS !!!
