Hi everyone -
I do a version of Joe Mogar's color changing knives and silks. The knife part of the routine works fine but I'd like a flashier way to introduce the silks. I thought of using a change bag or dye tube to produce the silks but before I spend money on yet another device I'd like your opinions and input. As always, if I've posted in the wrong section, feel free to move, edit or delete me! Thanks, SB

Bill: I am not an expert with a silk handkerchief, but if you're performing the knife routine close-up, I would advise against the change bag, and seriously consider whether you want to use a dye tube or not. Others here will, I'm sure have specific suggestions for you. I think that a simple, semi-sleight of hand production would work best, because you have no gimmicks to ditch.
If you have access to a book like the Mark Wilson Course in Magic, there are some great (simple) production methods that would lend themselves to this type of routine. I'm always interested in figuring out how to do something simply and effectively, without spending money on gimmicks. However, when you need a prop or magic device, it's always better to get the best you can buy, because then you don't end up constantly replacing cheaper equipment. Best of luck in "Die Welt" and in Magic! VB

Thanks, Victor, for your insight. I'm intrigued by the "semi-slight of hand" approach and will try and develop something along these lines. And there's always a re-worked confetti cannon.
