Lance DeLong is coming out with 2 DVD's. There's a good mix of cards and coins. He's also one heck of a coin smith. Below is his site:

Listen, here's my opinion...these are great dvd's if you have this view...the material is full of sleights and challenges, and also great ideas...you can take small peices of the material and create...this stuff will be educational for many.....some of the stuff is very challenging...I recommend this material to guys like Dan ( a friend on the airplane) who likes coin sleights like these kind of challenges...also ton of card stuff...
I did produce them and will say that they are not for everyone....but if you like sleight of hand you will certainly like what my buddy Lance does... look for the Slydini dvd set to be out in a month or so...FANTASTIC!!!! koz |

When can I get these DVDs? Like I mentioned in other posts, I have seen him in action and I can testify that he is good. The one time I saw him he did some things that I didn't even know how to do (still don't). I got a good feeling about these DVD's. Maybe another of does underground magicians that are killer but never come out.
I remember Bob White being like this (cards). Nobody ever knew about him, yet he came out with the material that he has and..... I hope Mr. Delong does the same, and if he does I hope he produces other videos teaching more of his innovations. |

Okay, I just recieved the DVD's today and Murphy's also recieved them today as well. So those that have been asking, they are now available.I do not want to write a big sales pitch here but for those that asked, the DVD's are about half coins and half cards as well as a good bill switch routine. Don't let the title scare you unless you are a beginner ( hence the title). The card work is intermediate to advanced and the coin work would be advanced but nothing too crazy. Another question people are asking is it all gaffs. Answer NO. Yes I make some custom gaffs for a few folks here and there but the material uses both gaffed and ungaffed coins and the cards are all ungaffed. If I can answer anymore questions I would be glad to. I will be updating the website in the next few days to add the DVD's. Thanks
PS: I would also say that Dan Watkins has a DVD out now as well. I am sure you all know him from his work here on the Café as well as his published work. If you are interested there is a thread on his DVD in the "Show me the Money" forum right now( the coin guys gotta stick together)lol. Lance |

So is there a description of the effects on the dvd's
|

Lance DeLong New user Lubbock Texas 26 Posts |
Daren, here is a quick rundown on the effects.
Vol. 1: Six Pence None the wiser: This is a matrix type effect with 2 extra kickers at the end. BAnnonesque: a super clean prediction trick with cards, Drawn and Quartered: My handling of the mismade bill Mildly Motivated: A slow version of ambitious for the specs that like to grab 3rd times the Charm: A triple spellbound with a new unpublished retrieval of Roger Klause's. World famous 2 coin Trick: a 2 coin trick with a purse and , no coins??? Kings in Korner Pocket: Card transpositions ending cleanly in the pockets Vol 2 : Coins Through Glass: 2 coins traditional and one visual penetration Perfect prediction: card is reversed before the trick begins and ends up being the signed prediction. Sweet n Low: 4 different versions of Chink a Chink can be done together or seperately. IHT: in the hands triumph: my take on the classic Family Affair: CSB or 2CS with a purse Slick trick: Copper Silver transpo That is a QUICK rundown Daren if I can answer anything else just ask. Thanks |

I just watched both of them tonight so here is my quick and dirty report... I am not a big card fan, so you will need someone else to chime in on them.
I like the coin stuff. Lance has some very clever ideas, and even though he makes gaffed coins, the routines are not just gaff tricks. I can see strong influences from Dai Vernon's coin material as well as Rune Klan's. Lance has a very deceptive Purse Palm which can catch you off guard if you don't utilize this concealment much (I personally don't so some of his moves caught me off guard). The impromtu gaffing he uses for a couple of his routines also got me, I never use it so it threw me on first watch. (For those of you who watch the DVD's I am referring to the Worlds Famous Two Coin Trick). On Volume 1 he has a nice multiphase bill switch routine, and a clever triple spellbound routine with influences by Curtis Kam and Scotty York. I personally like Volume 2 better because it is more coin content. The last coin on his Coins to Glass routine is very cool, I have never seen it done before. He actually makes a coin penetrate a glass that is upside-down over two coins. It looks absolutely fabulous. Sweet & Low is a nicely constructed 3 phase bare handed assembly routine. Truthfully, all these types of routines kind of blend together in my mind, but the technique behind the routine is very solid. Family Affair is a nicely thought out Copper Silver Brass effect utilizing a purse and spellbound changes. Slick Trick is a three phase Copper Silver transposition where they transpose from under a card twice and through a spectator's hand. Very visual looking transpositions. Free Fly is a gaffed to the hilt production, 3 fly, vanish sequence. It is not explained but Lance Tips the gaffs in a section of his DVD called "Coin Talk" where he shows you all the different gaffed coins he makes. They look nice from what I can see from the DVD. I really did not know what to expect from the DVDs never seeing Lance's work before, and I was pleasantly suprised with the coin material and his technique. I'll leave it up to a cardician to talk about the card material. Dan |

Well I haven't seen this material in so long and I wasn't deeply involved in the editing of this production so today after watching dans great new coin dvd, "coin man walking" I decided to go back and watch lances new stuff to see how it compared and they are different for sure...take away the card stuff "i'm also not a big fan" but his card stuff is not card tricks its card magic and I think all card guys will love what lance has done here....i love coins and I'm more of a purest so I don't like gaffs much other than a shell ...bit watching lances coin stuff is a blast because of the very different ideas he has
dan talked about his coin to purse thing, the first time I saw lance he sent me a homemade video that was not the greatest production in the world let me tell ya BUT there were a few things on that tape that made me stand up and go "what the f---" well you get the idea....and turns out its the same stuff dan is talking about...the purse thing and the coin to glass routine is KILLER you can take your coin to glass routine and add the ending and MAN you will have something there. I learned his penetration after shooting the video and every magi I show goes WOW! a great idea lance and his purse thing . just so *** magical I also love his shadow coins thing "sweet and low" killer...real coins and it has a great sugar packet idea that I think you will use. another thing about lances material is there are alternate endings for a lot of the routines. so you can go your own way and kind of create your own thing using his ideas. if you are a card guy or a coin guy or you're looking for a nice routine for your mismade bill I promise you will find some great creative ideas on these dvd's. you cant go workng here guys there are some real good new dvd's on the market, lance delongs new set and dans great walk around stuff, tons of impact in your hands magic from dan very impressive fellas. koz |
