I know that this amount is starting to push it in terms of quality and stuff, but that is really all that I can fit in the budget. It would also be super if I could send a mony order...because I lack a credit card.
Anyways! I'm off to surf for some, post your suggestions if you have any.

Hey, wow. Those Morrissey Cups (Copper, Large) are cheaper than the ones that I was looking at from a shop down in Victoria. The 3/4" balls cheaper too. *emails them* I can't buy them yet, but as soon as that 50$ comes rolling around, it's straight to the post office I go. Heh
(Yes! No more plastic cups!)

If you only have $50 CDN to spend, that's what? About 75 cents, US? Just kidding.
The Loftus cups are made in India. The quality of these cups is fair to middling, but they don't weigh very much. The cups by Bazar di Magia are better. If you want cheap, the cups by Uday are okay. These are Indian, as well.

If you are going to save $50, scrape together another $20 and look at the Laurie Ireland cups on Bill Palmer's website at http://www.adessoverlag.com
The feedback from colleagues on the Café has been very positive, and Bill throw in a lot of extras. Flimnar

I have one set of Ireland cups left. It is on hold, waiting for a response.
I'm having a sale on certain cups, which I have sent Ragiv a PM about. Regarding Morrissey cups -- their quality can vary a bit. They have really improved a lot lately. There was a brief span of time there when they were having some minor problems, but that seems to be cleared up now.

Why do you want your cups and balls to weigh a lot?
|

Durability and weight promotes certain moves and helps their consistency.

Which are heavier, Brass or Copper, generally?
|
Euangelion![]() Special user 688 Posts ![]() |
Copper or Brass is less important than either one being substantial and well made. All other things being equal brass maybe slightly stronger. Those same things being equal I would, also, consider the color and which you might want to choose artistically against your working surface, your clothing, etc.
By the way Pete's recommendation of looking on Ebay is a good suggestion.

Thanx, but I still want a heavier cup.
|
Euangelion![]() Special user 688 Posts ![]() |
Brass is slightly lighter unless it is beryllium copper both are 3-4 times heavier than aluminum.Either can be made heavier it depends on the exact cups. Specific gravity for beryllium copper is 8100-8250, rolled brass about 8450, pure copper is 8700, and aluminum is about 2600.
