Gentle rebuke noted and accepted. I was not aware that Alexander/Blair Robertson/Stuart Cumberland are one and the same.
It does now appear that the E-Book may be purchased from the author for $10.00 less on eBay, than through his own web site, and as posted about here. Isn't that odd? Mark Ross |

Yes I would admit it is a totaly unethical thing to do.
I drove at least 100 people to his forum as an experiment here on the Café'. (possibly more) I am sorry for any one who went to his site if he is playing such games. We all could be wrong here. C'mon Blair.....Let us know the deal. I know you have a link to this thread it is posted on your forum. Jim Don't let me down man. I stood up for ya and helped you. |

Given that the author died in the 1930's all his works are public domain. You can buy the act for a couple of bucks at http://www.lybrary.com. The links work and you get your material with a working link within minutes, unlike some other operations I know. while your at it check out Buckley's Mentalism Jems, first rate but again like Anneman's work you have to update the methods. The central tear idea is excellent and glad I was refunded the cost of the ebook by cumberland. Never read the Cumberland ebook for reasons cited. Cool, I'll research this a bit more... but I can fit upto 800 pages in a book, it would be printed exactly as Anneman wrote it, without interference by anyone else - more of a historical book rather than a 'new cutting edge methods' book. Of course I'll need to extensively look into the legal side of this before I do anything. -James |

After giving this matter some thought last night I have com to the conclusion that I was wrong in my assertion that it is unethical behavior.
For that I am sorry. Many people go to e-bay because the know they can find pirated manuscripts. They would never consider buying the work from the creator. Blair/Stuart is in my opinion simply taking advantage of that. It is a good business move if one chooses to look at it that way. But it is also highly irritating to those who bought the manuscript from him on his site. It is however not unethical as I had posted above. It is simply business. Best Wishes Jim |

Greetings,
Two things: First: Sorry for the delay. I wish I could have gotten to this much sooner, I have just returned from a tour of colleges and one corporate gig and simply have not had the time to access any sites. Second: The Ebay auction in question which has caused so much grief has been closed. It was an exceptionally simple error on my part--which I accept full and complete responsibility for. When I launched my ebook, it had a discounted price. I launched an Ebay campaign and marked the price to closely match the discounted pricing I was giving on my site, Mental-list.com The presale ended and the auction ended. No problems. No complaints. So, it comes time that I should relist my auctions. Great idea. I use a terrific program called TurboLister which allows me to quickly launch auctions. I simply relaunched several of my auctions including the Annemann ebook. Unfortunately, I launched the Annemann auction without thinking that the price should have been changed. From there, I went on my merry way doing "play-for-pay" gigs. I came back to 17 emails ranging from "hey, did you know this" all the way to outrage that I'm a "scam-artist" (as one put it). I came back to read on my very own board a link to this board. You can imagine my shock when I read what some of you folks were saying. Wow. It was particularly painful to see how fast people assume the worse, instead of assuming the best. More so from people who should know better. Here's a quick story: I have a greyhound dog. Greyhounds are prone to "happy tail"--they wag their tails so furiously that they often cut or break their tails. Two weeks ago I came home after running some errands and my dog comes running to see me. I look in horror, as he's running up and down the hallway, at blood spattered walls. It looked like a mini version of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Blood everywhere and dripping too! Scared the crap out of me. It ends up he had a teeny-weenie tiny cut at the end of his tail. Of course, wagging it furiously and running up and down the hall in excitement of seeing me again spread the blood all over the place. Man, what a mess! It took hours to clean up. I thought to myself then, "isn't it amazing how such a little tiny thing can cause such a massive mess?" And that's what I'm thinking right now. How such a simple mistake turns into nasty accusations and feelings. After all these years I would have thought my reputation would be held in better esteem than that. It's truly amazing. Onward. Thanks Stuart,
I am dissapointed that it was not a marketing angle. As I had posted it could be. I will say sorry for suggesting you might be doing such a thing if that posting caused you distress. But it does make sense. Jim |

I was one of the presumed few whom purchased the Annemann/S.C.revised (and improved!) manuscript from the ebay auction. Good Grief...give the fellow a 'pass!!' Has he not demonstrated consistent ethical behavior in the past and been a willing and able contributor to mentalism/hypnosis? Don't let one UNintentional ill-perceived hiccup blemish an otherwise sterling career that most of us would like to emulate. Get on with it !

I was one of the many who bought the routine from Stuart/Blair at full retail. I don't care. It was worth every penny I paid for it.
How many magic purchases in the last year can you say that about? |

I can tell you that I was one who bought this on ebay as well and am looking very forward to reading it! Yes, I did know that it was Stuart selling it, just figured that he was working to sell a few more copies and get the word out there -- Great Advertising, and many people do this to garner interest in their business or products! I was planning on purchasing it anyway, just happened to run across it on the ebay listing.
I'll post my thoughts after I have had a chance to read it, but I'm betting that it is good! Thanks, Sixx |

Jim:
My post was directed at those whom were ready for a protracted "firestorm" (Tom Jorgenson quote)and to assist in leveling the field. It seems some are so quick to find a negative angle. There was no angle or pre-meditation in this and I believe you believe that too. Case closed..... Mike

I truly am sorry that I started all of this. I hoped I was trying to warn one of our members that someone might be ripping him off. Some time back, I warned Thomas Henry of someone selling pirated copies of his "DIY Templates" CD on eBay. It turned out to be true. Now Thomas no longer sells his material in digital form and his web site is closed down. A loss for all of us.
Stuart sent me a kind note explaining his error. The matter is settled in my mind. Again, my apologies to Stuart and to you all. Mark Ross |

I had an unhappy occurance ordering this download from Stuart Cumberland, and I will say this for the man, he refunded my money in full no questions asked. While we both decided not to do business, the man IS HONEST. Please no more disparagement of the man's ethics. As for pricing products differently in different markets, it's done all the time in business. Ever wonder why your cable company gives you a half price off the first 3 months of your cable subscription? Try arguing for continuing the deal, I have, no way. To charge one price on Ebay and another at this site is his right. Go for it Stuart!

Does anyone have a phone contact for Stuart? I purchased the download from his web site, but it didn't download as a pdf, it downloaded as dl1.asp and my computer won't open it. I don't know what a dl1.asp is.
I've sent three emails to Stuart, but have received no response. Is he on the road or something? I'd appreciate a phone contact. Thanks, David
