I have for most of my illusions ata cases however a couple of my items that were from Jim Sommers, have a nice lightweight case. Anyone who has had some of Jim's items knows the case I am talking about. Does anyone know if he makes the case himself or can I source them somewhere, I have a couple of small props I would like to get some for ASAP

If the cases you got from Jim are the same as I had, they were made of fibreboard. They're very lightweight and I seem to recall Jim saying he had them made for him.
I prefer cases made of polyethylene. They are as lightweight as the fibre cases but they are made of a thin plastic and are water proof and extremely durable. (Fibre cases warp when they get wet.) A quick search of the web for custom polyethylene cases came up with several listings but this one had something interesting: http://www.customcases.com/ Check they're "Light Duty Custom Cases". They look like a great combination of light weight and durable construction. Plus, they have the "Buckle & Strap Custom Cases." Michael |

The ATA cases I build are the "standard" ABS laminate type with recessed hardware and I don't believe anyone can beat my prices!!!!!! Send me a quote from another case builder and see if I don't beat the price by at least $50-$100.

I used to go with clydesdale for all my cases then I found a builder Ken McCreedy he builds top notch flight cases as well as illusions . I do recall he signed up here recently so try PM'ing him. plus he is out of Canada so it helps keep the costs down
good luck Johnnie |

Contact Steve Chezaday, he gets me all of my cases through Cabbage. They are out of Ohio and Steve knows what he's doing and will set you up with what you need.

I know! I know!
I was at Jim's house last week. His cases that he has for his customers' illusions come from "Wellington Cases" in downtown Chicago They are lightweight, but can hold a large illusiuon packed flat. He recommends that you also use a cart or dolley when hauling heavy stuff. The address is: 1134 W. Hubbard St.; Chicago , IL (312) 226-4545 http://www.wellingtoncase.com Jim recommends the "vulcanized" cases. Wes |
