I'm curious to know if any of you own the Bucket Head prop sold in Hocus-Pocus.com. Does this work for you? Is this effective or funny at all?

Lou,
I have Bucket Head and never used it. I bought it because it sounded funny. The face of the person really does get big inside the bucket. With the right patter and acting it should play well. I am also interested to hear if this has played well for others. Lou, if you ever decide to get it, contact me first. We should be able to work something out. Ray Noble |

John Zander has a routine using the Bucket Head prop on his Entertaining School Shows DVD. He seems to get a good response from it.
Personally, I'm not impressed with the prop. I don't own it, but it looks rather awkward to pack and carry around. And, if memory serves me correct, John mentions this on his DVD. That's not to say it couldn't be a great bit of fun in your show. Like anything, you have to have the correct routine for you.

I have it and have used it. I use it when doing larger public events like fairs and festivals. Does not physically fit in my birthday case. As stated by Scott O. it IS "rather awkward to pack and carry around". But then again some of the folks here pack and carry a chair suspension to birthday parties. You make the call.
I was disappointed when I received mine because I paid $125.00 and it is made pretty cheap. I know it's suppose to look like a homemade invention. But it really is made with the cheapest components available. The bucket itself is paper thin and flimsy. All that said...I was startled at the reaction I got when using it properly. (If you push the back of the bucket forward it moves the screen further away from the boys face thus making his face bigger and more obvious). It gets a BIG reaction from the audience. Kids and parents audible gasp, ahhh, laugh, and applaud just by pulling the cover off the front of the bucket. Sooo just tell yourself your paying for the idea and the reaction and not the prop itself and I think you'll enjoy it. -DeWayne ps: Don't forget to push the bucket forward! (Makes a big difference) |

I have to agree with the others. If this contraption was $25.00, I'd say it's a bit overpriced, but okay. At $125.00, I say it's a terrible deal. I did not buy it, but saw it at a magic shop, marked down to $85.00.
I saw it on the Zander DVD and was not impressed. Brian F. |

I have it - but have only used it a couple of times. A bit disappointed with the reactions. One day I will dig it out again and see if I can use it in a better way. Yes, it is overpriced, but as with most magic props you're paying for the idea rather than the prop itself
