Ummmm... cool? Would you like to share a routine with everyone or are you just telling us of your success on the market?
You know you are a magician when you have boxes full of lecture notes you have never read, but still are excited about going out and buying more.

How are you planning on routining it? What presentation are you going to put into it to make it your own and to fit your own unique style ad character when you perform? I always say a trick is just a trick, but an entertainer can make magic.

Just a reminder when doing pb&j not sure what venues your playing but the peanut allergy is huge! Every daycare I perform at has a huge sign up no peanuts or peanut products you need to check because you don't want a teacher or parent stopping you in mid show because of that!
just a reminder

Some people do the production of an actual PB&J sandwich as an ending to this trick, but by itself, the PB&J Illusion is completely nut-free (if you don't include the big nut performing it). It's probably still a good idea to let the teachers know that no real peeanut butter is present, before the show starts.

True, but the appearance of the sandwich gets a great reaction! as discussed in different places there are plenty of other things to put on the sandwich that look like peanut butter(soy butter) etc.
and def. tell the teachers

I do a routine in which I mention Star Trek and I have invented a machine that transports. I have added an antennae to the top of each outside cover. I purchased several years ago a device called "weird noises". I use it to "transport" the PB&J ala the regular routine. Then when I do the transport the last time I bring up a child (usually a boy) and say that it appears he does not believe me. I attach an antennae (bopper with flashing lights) to his head and he stands between the two containers. The routine continues with him producing a sandwhich from the paper sack. I think by my description you get the idea if you have the effect.

Ron,
That is exellent thinking....Perhaps some tinfoil for the antenna will work also.

On a budget tin foil is cool. I prefer the bopper with blinking lights. It just adss to the sillyness. I have used this routine from the very first the effect was introduced. Ron |

I just got this effect and the bare-bones instructions that came with it (1/2 a page) only outline the mechanics (which I didn't need to know). It just advises you to formulate your own routine. Could someone PM me an established routine that's "audience tested?" Thanks.

Not to sound mean spirited or anything, but I think that is the point. They give you the basics on how the effect works and how it sets up as a trick. However, it really is up to the magician to go out there and develop his or her own routine that works best for you , your character and your personna on stage. No one routine is right for every performer. We are all different and we all have different styles of presentation and different audiences. To just do a standard routine someone else has come up with, may not work for your style or your audiences. It also just makes up more magic clones since everyone would be doing it the exact same way. Take the basics they give you and really start to think outside of the box in terms of your own creativity. Think of wehat kids like and how they react to things. Think of your own performance style and character and devise a routine that works along side of this. You will find that you can indeed come up with a great routine that is original to yourself and that they will enjoy. Do not be afraid to go out there and just be creative with it. Have fun with it. Kyle =)

A sponge sanwich could certainly add some fun to the routine if it fits your stage personna. That is one direction or way you could go in order to create a new routine that is customized for you and works for the types of audiences and market you are performing for. Think outside of the box and think not as a magician. This may be hard to do, but we magicians tend to overanalyze so much that we often let ourselves unable to really be creative.

It is very reasonable for you to want to see a suggested routine provided by the maker. If you got a knock-off, just look around for a video or book that has a routine for you. Bob |

I agree with you about the use of a sandwich at the end. I use a changing bag that the “assistant” holds after he (or she) helps me place two slices of bread in a zip lock bag and into the changing bag. I do the “bag switch thing” as I hand it to another assistant to hold during the routine. At the end of the routine I lift both canisters to show they are empty, and then have the assistant reach into the bag to find a PB&J sandwich in the zip lock bag. No need to open it as it is made rather sloppy by design so they can see what it is. Bob |

I have found one major problem with this trick. I do mostly elementry school shows and birthday parties. There are so many alergies to peanuts today that schools freak out even when you assure them there is no real peanut butter involved.
