Hi.
I've red several times that the oil and water plot can be traced as far as Hofszinser. Do you agree? It's there any other older source? Kindest regards Daniel de Urquiza.

I'm not sure your entirely correct.
If you break down the plot it goes much further back that Hofszinser. I beleive its one of the oldest around, though I'm not sure of a verifiable older source... |

The modern day O&W is generally credited to Walter Gibson (by some) and to Marlo (by some). Hofzinser's approach isn't considered by many to be a true O&W.
What are your favorite handlings? I like Chad Long's full deck O&W routine. That routine fried me badly the first time I saw it. |

I kind of like the Divider. Done using the Gaetan Bloom Elevator where the joker acts like Maxwell's Demon... very cute.
As to who would not consider it an oil and water...

Hofzinser, Gibson and Marlo all made notable contribution with regard to Oil & Water. Hofzinser thought out the effect first, Gibson thought out the method first and Marlo though out the Title.

Kato-san, does that mean my idea to use elevator as way to show joker sorting out the cards (divider) is new?
The actual method uses either a stripped deck or the spread cull. ![]()
