All right guys, I think we MAY have a winner here...
I just saw the video for Sean Bogunia's latest "finale" for his dancing hank tricks. This is one of the most visual stage effects I have ever seen. Totally awesome. The silk looks like a real ghost as it flies over the audience. For those of you don't know. PTS stands for Programmable Thread System. It allows for actual 3D flight across the stage and OVER THE AUDIENCE! It looks like it could be a real winner IF! 1. It doesn't use 1 mile of invisible thread 2. You don't have to spend a week on your back pressed up against the ceiling installing the works... Still the price is a bit high at $2500. Some day, I would love to own this, for now, I can just dream about it and see if others like it. See the video at http://www.hocus-pocus.com Derek Merdinyan |

I am also very interested on this one. But I think it will spend a lot of time on setting up against the ceiling installing the works etc..
Hope to hear more reviews of it. Thanks |

That is sounding good. I just hope you don't have to separate a mile of IT to do it. Man I would love to do this one, it would be soooooooooooooooooo cool! Anyone who gets it now and performs it in a contest next week is bound to win lol
Yes, I would love a review on this one ASAP! Derek Merdinyan |

Sean just Emailed me and showed me that he finally made this available.
I've been waiting for him to release this for a couple of years now. We had a ball experimenting with it at his house over the last year. It's been so hard to keep my mouth shut. The only things I've said to other magicians about it is, "Just wait till you see it." Yea, it is an expensive item but for a working pro (or someone who wants to be one) this is definitely worth the money. Other then just playing around with it at Seans house I actually saw him use it in a show once. In this show he used the PTS to make an arrow fly over the audience into a picture on the wall after it just missed hittimg him in the face. Made a hank fly around the room over the audiences head and when it flew back on stage it turned into a person. Just gives you an idea of how many things can be done with this. Another thing I love about it is that you can set it up before hand during your rehearsal. When you're done you just hit a button and you're ready for the show. You don't have to go back up there and wind everything back up and hope no one moves the thread. You don't have to make sure your assistants are in place to do the work for you. This is especially useful if you do more then one performance a night. When your done with the act you just let the device reset for you. Sorry I'm raving on but I can finally talk about it in public. You all know what a thread head I am. Sean is a friend of mine but he has no idea I'm writing this. I don't want anyone to think I'm only writing this because I'm trying to boost his product. That's not it at all. It's just a great gimmick and so much can be done with it. Ron Jaxon |

There is a company that sells this type of effect. The effect is called
'Mini-Phantome'. The web page is http://www.marco-beltempo.de/english/index.html Or just go to the Magic Auction, http://www.magicauction.com/ and click on the banner below the flag. Ray Noble |

Thank you for the nice comments Ron, your check is in the mail!!
PTS does not use invisible thread because that would be very impractical, although it could be set up to use invisible thread. But who wants to strip 100 foot of invisible thread that will probably break during the setup! You do need a ladder for the initial set up, if you plan on using it to have something fly over the heads of the audience. Depending on how you plan on using PTS, if you want to use it on stage, for example, your setup can be rather quick. Approximately 10 minutes of preshow set up if you come prepared. If you are a performer that performs in variety shows and your act is in the middle of the show you can be set up within two minutes, after your preshow set up without any worry of other performers disturbing your set up. Lighting conditions for stage use are the same as a normal Dancing Hanky performance. But not like Blackstone, his stage was really dark. I believe he did that to hide the string and also to set the mood. I use a blue nulash material for my backdrop. When I use PTS onstage with this material the lighting is pretty normal and the stage can be very bright as long as you have a light focused directly on your backdrop. In this situation I've been able to perform this effect in school gyms , some banquet rooms, on stage and in some cases like the show that Ron seen where the audience has been very close, but I was able to adjust the lighting to make this possible. The 'Mini-Phantome' is very different from PTS. The 'Mini-Phantome' requires a reset after every use and does not use a program that the performer creates. It simply follows a preset path of flight. The rigging is totally different and so is the concept. As far as I know you also need an off stage assistant to operate 'Mini-Phantome' for you. With PTS this is not necessary. The performer can set it up and operate it by himself without any need for off stage assistants. Now I'm not saying anything bad about the 'Mini-Phantome' it is a totally different effect. But I will say the video demo is a little deceptive. It's actually a video that repeats, it doesn't constantly fly like that. It only goes through its flight path at one time. Then you have to reset it. The cost is over twice as much as PTS, but it is a great product. I had the opportunity to set one up for a friend and it did exactly what it was supposed to do. Also, like all of my products, if you purchased from me and you're not happy with the item, I will give you your money back. PTS enables you to do things never before possible for the solo performer. And don't think of it as just a Dancing hanky, you can do way more than just a Dancing Hanky or a flying ghost. The DVD instructions go over several ideas that have nothing to do with a hanky or ghost. Also, I forgot about the arrow thing that I did that Ron talked about. I will put up a video of that as soon as I get it edited. Sean Bogunia |

I do not think this product is expensive in any way. That goes to say I know that I would never be able to afford it. This is all opinion but I think it's fair to say that anyone who would have this would definately have a showpiece full of potential. Not to mention a reputation maker if that's your field. I do not go around making posts hyping, but after watching the video I felt like this one deserved some.
Sincerely, Mack Magic

Can you use more than one hank at a time or do you have to buy one complete set for each number of hanks you want to use?
Take care, Bry |

Can the pts system be used to float a lightbulb over the audience?
|

The rights to the floating lightbulb are still in the Blackstone family! (you have to talt to Gay Blackstone about this... )

Rights??
Here comes the question of rights once again. Is the floating lightbulb patented? Mr. Blackstone floated a lightbulb over the audience... YES, why can´t I perform that too? And excellence: yes, you can float a lightbulb with the PTS for sure. |

I just had a reply from SBogunia who has informed me that you cannot use the pts to perform this. Now I am completely confused.
Is there anyone who is well informed to tell me? |
