Greetings to all stage guys here.
I would like to ask: is there any stage book out there that includes the plan of Lance Burton's "Purple Box" sucker effect, or anything along the lines of it? It really doesn't matter which version is available; I just need a good illusion plan (either by itself or being the content in a stage book) for something that creates the sucker effect. I do believe that the sucker transposition plot isn't original, but I have no source to refer to. (We don't want to copy someone's presentation anyway.) Our school club is going to plan for a 30-minute stage show coming this Jan 2006, and I think we have the sufficient time to plan for a grand illusion or two. the purple box idea will be one of them. (the plot is the same, but almost all the details will be changed....from the music to the pace.) so, any directions will be greatly appreciated. A sincere Thanks to everyone in advance!! |

The purple box (backstage with the magician) was created by Jim Steinmeyer so if you want to do this version you have to contact him.
Plans of the cane cabinet are available but for the classic routine & not the backstage version! |

Thanks a lot el rafael. One question though, is the classic cabinet structure bearing the same workings? Since if that is the case then getting the classic plan will be ok.
but by then would it be ethical to use another plot for the construction? by the way, the reason we picked this effect because not only is the effect entertaining from beginning to end, it is also very angle proof........our stage built on the playground is located in a way that it can be viewed from the front, sides and even the overhead view (it rests against a school building wall, and students who walk by for the event can peer down on the stage clearly....) can anyone suggest more illusions that fulfills the angle problem? it's really tough in our opinion.....and it is unpractical to cover up the bad angles, since they are open spaces, and not windows.... |
