Here is an add from Hank Lee:
"Poker Chip Surprise - Connie Haden's Double Copper Silver is one of the great classics in coin magic. We love to demo this one in the shop. It's just plain fun to do. Poker Chip Surprise, created by Pete Biro and crafted by Joe Porper, brings this classic effect to the next level. Poker is more popular than ever, which makes this routine perfect! Bring out a small leather purse, open it and remove three Casino Poker Chips. Place the three chips on your outstretched left palm so the spectators can see them clearly. There's a red chip, yellow chip and grem chip. With your right hand, remove the red chip, leaving the yellow and green. In a wink, open both hands. The red chip is now in your left hand; the yellow and green chips are in your right hand. An amazing transposition. Offer to do it again. Again the chips transpose! Do it again, this time in the spectator's own hands! Finally, you place the red chip in the purse. Still it changes place with the green and yellow chips! At the end, you can hand out all three chips, as you are totally clean! Comes with the precision-made poker chips (wait until you see these!); specially made leather purse designed to do the switch at the end; and a photo-illustrated instruction booklet. $89.00" Does anybody have it? Is it any good? Are the chips well made? Are they worth the price?

Don't have it yet, but plan to get it. I posted on another thread regarding this that the chips are milled out of real clay chips.
Paul Green has seen them and I have great respect for his reviews and opinions. http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......3&22 |

I have it. It is well made... blah blah blah... hahah, what else would I say?
Seriously... the price is low for what it took us to make, but we wanted to keep it within reach of many as we think it is something that will be popular. Folks like Dean Dill, John Carney and Paul Green all have praise for the chips. They are real chips from a casino chip manufacturer, coupled with Porper's craftsmnship and high standards (we had to throw away several that were not perfect, but could have been sold). I await other reviews from those that purchase this. Thanks.

I got it. It is well made. But it is not too smooth when nesting compare with metal coins. The Shxxx rim is very thin I afraid if I press too hard when nesting it will break the rim . Any idea ? Thanks

I just got my hands on this, it will not nest right for me, I have clean them a few times but no luck, id say that the nest is ok but not good, also it is hard to do standerd CSB triks. I would not let them leave your hands, for just a little more money you could get a standerd CSB set that would last longer and you would get a lot out of it.

I've been using mine a ton and have had no nesting or fragility problems. If you got a defective one, send it back right away.

Just an technical question. Is it not easier to turn out a chip compared with a coin? Wouldn't it be easier to get the dimensions spot on? Is there something about poker chips that make them more difficult to modify?

Just got it, I found the Green Shxxx was cutted too thin that makes the surface of the Green shxxx a little bit pop up. As it is not flat so it don't look good.
Nesting is Ok but not good. For me I will not use this set for real life . Just leave it as a collector's item. |

Right... We discovered a few that were "bubbled" up and have thrown them out. You have Porper's address on the instruction book... send 'em back to Joe direct, regardless of who you bought it from (saves time and keeps a dealer that doesn't want to play out of the loop).
We are truly sorry if anyone got one that -- "slipped through the cracks" -- we aim to please. On another point. Read the instructions... re: Do not put the she** onto one of the other chips they are made to go on the one described.

And yes, chips are incredibly difficult to machine, compared to coins. Many just explode and turn to dust right in the middle of the process. We thought about making them out of metal but then they would NOT be real poker chips. There are other chips made of plastic and metal by other dealers but they just don't have the right look and feel.

Got mine and the nesting is terrible. I have contacted the dealer and he said to send them back. Mine is the 3rd set returned. Maybe these need to be looked at again for the nesting problem.

I just got back from the Magic Castle swap meet. We had a stack of the chips there and all were just fine. James Lewis, Paul Green and a few other sleight-of-hand guys all tried them and, in fact, came up with added ideas, moves and routines. Lewis worked out a Gallo inspired Spellbound that floored all watching.
AGAIN... if there were some bad ones out there send them back ASAP we will make it right. As far as the Predator wallet, I don't know as I have never had or used one, so I can't reply about it.

Pete, if you ever get a mind to get the Predator, ask Paul if you can have it in the "rare" brown model.
Pete's a GREAT inventor and cool guy. If he says they're fine, then they are. And when he says send them back, he means it.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones as I have had no nesting issues at all. These work as advertised and I couldn't be more pleased with the workmanship and quality of these chips.

Hi Guys,
My set of poker chips works very well! No problems at all. If you want to use the poker chips instead of coins, the Porper set is the answer to your desires. Joe Porper's craftsmanship is unequaled. As I have stated before, I still prefer the 2 Copper, Silver set for my perfomances, but the Porper chips are an excellent alternative. Thanks to Michael Dustman, above. I appreciate your continued trust in my opinions. Those that know me, know that I do not make idle statements. Even if a friend is involved, I will tell it like it is! Regards, Paul (always tells the truth--Best as I can) Green |
