I'd have to agree with Dan, although if it's a larger kid show, it might be my Jumbo Sidekick II or for a school show, my Silver Odyssey. They talk about that one for a LONG time afterward.

Axtell Magic Drawing Board. Just received it last week, and haven't had time to practice with it yet.

Brian,
You are going to have a blast with the drawing board. I've had mine now over a year and I'll never leave home without it. I ask the kids if they like to draw and of course they say yes. So I tell them I am going to draw something and as soon as they know what it is yell it out. As I am drawing 'Sponge Bob' I start giving them clues. I.E. Who lives in a pine apple underneath the sea. "Sponge Bob!" they scream. Once I finish I ask them to tell me more about him, as I do this he eyes start going back and forth. They are yelling that they are moving and of course I say "Yes, his eyes do move on TV but it's impossible for his eyes to move because he's only a drawing." Of course after more screaming I look and they are still. The third time they disappear and the kids are going nuts. When I look the eyes are back. So I ask "Sponge Bob are your eyes moving? Then his mouth moves answering me. Then I get all excited and ask who said that and more yelling. Then I have alittle conversation with him. Neat gadget. Quote: On 2005-09-29 23:12, Brian Lehr wrote:

My most expensive item for kids shows has been the Chair Suspension. But considering how much use I've gotten out of it, it's well worth the money.

However, not being a vent, that drawing wouldn't fit with the voice of the Art-O-Matic axtrax. Speaking of voices not fitting the character, I have muppet "Animal" (which I love), which I've had for years. I was at an event once where they were doing a puppet play, and one of the puppeteers begins to use this same puppet. I'm thinking, "Yes, I love animal!" But when the puppet speaks, it's this girly voice (a woman was doing the handling). I nearly screamed, "Nooooo, not to my Animal!" So I would hate to disillusion the children by putting the high-pitched voice of "Mark" onto Frankenstein. They would need therapy to overcome the emotional scars! Brian |

Our sound system is the most expensive thing in our regular children's show. Much of the other effects would be lost without it.
All the best, Rob |

The floating table.
The children like the floating table and I can also use this prop in adult shows.

Collector's Workshop Kyber Kobra. Worth every penny. The second most expensive is Wolf's Magic ABC Gumball, a classic!

I would have to say my chair suspension. As someone else stated, I have performed it so often, that it has easily paid for itself time and again. Another HUGE exspense would have to be my 20 years in magic. After 20 years of invested time, I am still learning every single day and every time out. I wouldn't change it for the world.

For Me its Chico The mindreaded. This has fast become a kid show favorite in my program . The kids go ape... Huh I mean bananas over him. LOL. Really Its a fantatsic item and It works equally as well for adult venues as well. Every one loves him even the 3 qnd 4 years old love the movement of the monkey. Thanks to Bill Abbott for this fantastic routine.

Chuck: It sounds great and looks like you get a lot of great response from it.
From those who posted, how many of you see it as the trick itself that is making it priceless or is it really more the routine that you have developed with it that really gives it and makes you feel you got your money's worth and then some? I know for me that even though my chair suspension cost me a bundle, it is the routine I have developed over time that really is what makes it personally priceless for our show. So much so that I probably would have easily paid double just to own it because of the reactions I get the the fun and empowering moment it causes to the child. Kyle

Sound system is of course the most expensive.
Second would be my backdrop. I'm still not 100% sure it was worth the investment. I just bought haunted castle, which is only half of what my backdrop cost. |

But if it adds value to your client and the services you provide to them, then it will pay itself off in a matter of time. So in som e ways it can be a very worth while investment for you. =)
