Who knows if any of you will know what the hay I'm speaking of, but the legendary "PHANTASMAGORIA" haunted house ride is in danger. The ride rests in the heart of Bell's Amusement Park, which has been in Tulsa as long as anyone can remember, and apparently the city of JENKS is buying the ENTIRE PARK and moving it to their own town, to feed the marketability of their new aquarium.
This might not be of interest to many of you, but for me, the amusement park, and "Phantasmagoria" in particular had a profound effect on my tender young psyche. Sure, it's probably the cheesiest, most vandalised year-round spook house in the world, but I think it's one of the most special things about this state I live in. It is also one of the last year-round "dark rides" of its kind. I sincerely hope that if Jenks moves Bell's, they have the heart to keep everything intact. Have any of you been to Tulsa? Been to Bell's? Ridden the Zingo or the Phantasmagoria? Let me know, share your memories. Out of respect, I have included a link to a photo gallery and walkthrough of Tulsa's only Tabernacle of Terror. Thanks for listening. http://www.laffinthedark.com/articles/ph......oria.htm *ps, "Casa Bonita" closed this week as well. I saw my first magic show there. Is nothing sacred?
A lot of fellows nowadays have a B.A., M.D., or Ph.D. Unfortunately, they don't have a J.O.B. - Fats Domino
