I've asked Mr. Rubistein some time ago about that, but he sad me that his purses
are of the goshman kind so a bit larger than the one I need. |

Thank you CoinMan21 but I've just bought the one from magicwarehouse.
It is beautifoul and I use for many other things, but it's a bit larger for that particulary routine. |

I tried doing that routine at a bar once. Got some interesting feedback. Much to consider, and I'm happy I listened.
Years later, I can take out such a thing and ask the audience how many snaps it gets. Back then I was mortified to be asked why a guy is fussing the pretty coins and carrying a purse. A word to the truly hip, Hello Kitty is cool, but with silver coins, and Prada is very chic though again not with old coins.

You might try Theambitiouscard.com Frank does some custom work and might be able to have what you need made for you. Don't know for sure but its worth a try and Frank is a great guy to deal with.

I believe the ones I got from midirections.com are identical to the ones I saw him using in his lecture. They're about 4 bucks each I think.

I totally have to get one. Mr. Townsend would you be kind enough to share with us the location you picked up your Hello Kitty Coin Purse? I'd be the envy of the magic shop if I could get my hands on one of those.
You know what would go well in a Hello Kitty Coin Purse? Chucky Cheese Tokens. |

Geoff, I use what makes sense for me and for the people for whom I would be doing magic. If doing magic for folks who know Hello Kitty and buttons, sure. If doing magic for people who know the the design houses, would go for buttons ( the other kind ) and a house bag. But anyway, unless doing something for an off color or rainbow audience, I would use the nice coin caddy Mickey gave me, or the thing Curtis sent me long ago. The very idea of a guy fussing over pretty coins and a purse he might have gotten from his grandmother just takes too much presentation setup for me. No folks it is not a memento of a special relationship. Yes I appreciate the snaps. You are correct, it does match my shoes. Why bother setting up lines like that unless you want that attention?
Sorry folks the idea of men fussing over a specifically quaint, outdated and campy women's purse is just incongruous. I was in NYC and a guy from France was showing off the nice purses he got on Canal street. His girlfriend and I exchannged several amused glances. BTW since I tipped it above, those are two different kinds of buttons. Ones you pin on and ones that are sewn on jackets. Word to the secure adults here, ask your significant other to carry the purse and "borrow" it for the trick.

I was actually looking at Hello Kitty stuff at the University Bookstore the other day. My style is "quirky" to something like that would actually fit what I do. However, Hello Kitty was just a bit too "out there" for me.
However, I'm thinking about trying something like this: http://www.craftbits.com/viewProject.do?projectID=811 Geoff

See one of my prior posts. I gave the site where one could obtain lovely coin purses crafted from the front halves of large Cane Toads. Quite the conversation starters.

I has my wife sew the Goshman purse shorter. It worked great for this effect and looks just fine. Turn the Goshman purse inside out and sew on a sewing machine a new bottom and cut the excess off. Then turn back again.
sewing machines can sew the plastic purses just fine without hurting the machine. Goshman had several colors and different types of vinyl and I has purchase a soft vinyl one. If the vinyl has the cloth backing it works best with these. |

Brillus -
I believe the purse that David uses in the "Purse and Glass" is a change purse that was sold about 25 or so years ago by Scotty York during his first lectures. The purses were commercially available at the time but I don't believe that particular style and brand are made any longer. At least neither Scotty or I have been able to find them for a number of years. My only advice would be to look at change purses whenever you are in a department store or other retailer that sells such things. Failing that, you might be able to find a leather worker who could make you the proper purse. This would probably be easier in Italy than the U.S. You do realize there is an international cartel that keeps track of what props magicians use and then has them removed from the market...just think about it...canes, top hats, changing bags, purses...and any number of those neat things you didn't buy when you first saw them and are now no longer available.
