Ok--my husband is dressing as Fred and I'm velma. Oh god, it's my sons ultimate fantasy--the family dressed as scooby and the gang--all we need is a shaggy tho.

I was Fred Flintstone in middle school one year...

The best costume I had was a pirate/gypsy look for a family party.
Baggy sleeved shirt.
Dyed my blonde hair (yes, I had some for a while) dark and wore a head bandana and earring.
Let my beard grow out a bit (pre-beard) and darkened it and eyebrows.
Added putty to my nose and colored my skin w/ makeup.

My wife had a full mask and white sheet.

We rang the bell and entered.
Every body looked but had absolutly no idea who we were.
When spoken to, I used a terrible French accent and modified my voice.

For about two hours no one had any idea who we were. People were whispering and glancing our way. It was great!!

Finally my bro-in-law, who gave the party, asked me, a bit agressively, who we were.
My wife took off her mask.
All heads turned to me with remarks like, "No way!".

They all thought we had crashed the party.

Another time my wife and I switched genders (not an easy task).
Funny thing about this bar party was that the scarecrow who was sitting with us was shedding straw all over, got drunk and set himself on fire. No injuries.

Nowadays I'm assigned to give out the treats while the wife goes trick or treating with the kids. Not sure if I'll dress up or not.

Once when I was about 20, I did crash a party. I was actually on my way to another one when I passed one that looked fun. I decided to hang out for awhile. I had a cool mask and cape and was unrecognizable. I was a good boy and didn't partake of their free goodies. I just hung out for a bit and acted the role of my ghoul. They seemed to have fun, and I did, too. I left quietly and unannounced, so I'm sure I left them with something to wonder about.

Our pirate reenactment group turns one of the members homes into Tortuga (1700-1800) for the night. Lot's of pirates, doubloons, cannons, skeletons and of course, candy for the little powder monkeys!

And, the party is catered by ARRRRby's, right, Cap'n?
