Here's a routine I'm working on for my upcoming halloween show.
The Magi explains something to the effect of how wer are surrounded by spirits tonight. Spirits who have insights into events that have yet to take place. The magi draws five rune symbols on five quarters. The selected medium is asked to shake the coins and cast the runes onto the table. The face down coins are removed. The process is repeated until one symbol remains. (I decided not to use actual runes as I like to borrow the coins and have the whole effect seem completely impromptu) The magi reiterates that no one alive in this room could have forcast the outcome. He brings the medium over to a window explaining how a spirit may have been watching from outside. "Please breath on the glass and see if the spirit left us a message". The medium does so to reveal the chosen symbol. So it's just combining the old two headed coin force with some "ghost glass" stuff. Let me know what you think. |

A nice basic combination of two classics. I like the idea, and it lends to a bit of chat on the old gods and their associated runesas it were, especially with only using 5 of them.
My only <critical> thought if you will, is, if you are doing this with runes, then you might look into a bit of the Norse tales, not so much a "spirit" as your Fylgia,(If I recall correctly) or guardian spirit, said to be "assigned" as it were at your birth. Never very far from you, and acting sort of like a protector. Any "ghost" type of entities are usually tied to places in the bit of the sagas I have read. k

Thanks for sharing. I particularly like your "impromtu" twist on the two headed coin force.

Thanks. It's just so convincing when you write the symbols out in fromt of the audience.

Yes, clever idea, Bloodkin. I wish I had the materials to try it out.

There is a post somewhere on what you can use for the ghost writing. Can't rememver where. But that's all you'd need!

Well, if you watched the new Jody Foster movie, all it takes is a childs finger!
of course, most think it still must be attached to the child! Otherwise, run your hands through your hair a bit while thinking up things to amuse the small folks before the show....that should allow you to have a workable substitute for said childish digit! k
