Many wonderful ideas are coming up in the thread... I love it.
David Regal has an interesting coins through table routine that ends up with the last coin vanishing totally clean. You see it right up to the last minute, then it travels! The hand can be immediately shown empty after it goes. His method can be used for coins across or as a complete coin vanish. You can find it "Constant Fooling 2" and also in his latest DVD series. It has some limitations but under the right conditions it will fool magicians and and lay audiences alike. David Regals routine truly meets the condition of a clean vanish of the last coin. That said, I've never bothered with it myself, mainly because any classic routine will be just as effective and much more practical. I do David Roth's coins across with his feint vanish at the end. No one ever questions the dirty hand, and there's plenty of time to clean up. Super effective! I've watched Paul Green kill audiences every time with his routine. practical. very practical magic.
Mediocrity is greatly under rated!

Just a thought here...Did anyone see the Mind Freak special last Wednesday night, i.e. the one with the exploding box?? He did a 4 coins across all at the same time. I started using this method for the last coin across or into the spectator's hand about 40 years ago...then 4 across...then 1 to 4, up to a 10 coin vanish. And Bob Kohler came up with the spectacular routine viewed last Wednesday...also the ring on the table vanish in the first special. Of course its a secret. But as food for thought....I'm curious as to what you thought of it...if you saw it???
Cheers, Bob Fitch

Bob, did you train the guy for that routine? I had to wonder as he looked uncomfortable where you are at ease with that stuff.
The "All Across" effect is pretty good and might be the second thing one thinks about after learning Leipzig's Pride.

Hey Mike Gallo...What I meant by my post was that the subtlety (Kaps/Malini) is the same in both. I was trying to give a frame of reference by citing the Tenkai Pennies routine. Sorry for the confusion. There are no other similarities, excluding moving coins from hand to hand, in the two things.

My good friend Garrett Thomas has what I think is the best vanish for the last coin in his "imagination coins" routine. This will be in his upcoming DVD's from L&L.

Have a look at what Al Schneider does for his last coin. The routine can be seen on the DVD that came with Genii magazine. Check out the audience reactions too.

I personally use the spider vanish as the original Roth's routine, adding the complete vanish in the pocket by Troy Hooser that fits perfectly in patter as you show that the coin is not in your hands neither in your pockets.
If you don't use to wear a jacket you can ditch the coin in your shirt front pocket as you pull up your sleeve or ditch it in your pocket as you retrieve the purse. Hope that helps. |

Joinathan have you seen my version of duchecks coin card called Dushecks Anges,
if not pm me .there are many effects that can be created using the Dusheck's coin card, a vanish, a transposition ,a matrix coin thru card or table or what ever your mind can think of . and not just for a purse like you stated . vinny |

"Bob, did you train the guy for that routine? I had to wonder as he looked uncomfortable where you are at ease with that stuff." (Jonathan Townsend) No, I didn't Jonathan. He got a quick lesson from Bob Kohler out in Vegas. But without practice, anything is going to be uncomfortable at first....He had too many things on his plate to take the time to do so....and not a lot of sleep with the shooting schedule that he's got. Thanks Bob, And I hope this brings more people to consider that wonderful way of making some kinds of magic not only possible but practical.
Folks, if you like what you saw and are ready to take that next step... PM Mr. Kolher or Mr. Fitch. Vinny, a few weeks ago you did send me a nice clip of something using Dusheck's item. Thanks! Are you working on new applications of the thing?

This answer may be too simple for some but it works quite magically for me. I use a Rentntion Vanish then slip them into my tie topit. It is clean, unsuspecting and when they look for the coins in the right hand it is opened and jaws drop.
Not everyone's cup of tea, particularily for the "purist" although it is just as magical as any I've seen. It is best done wearing a short sleeve shirt.... no where for it to go. All the best, Dick

Hehehe.....ask me when I get back from my European tour on the 7th of November. Might have an announcement then (unless you can convince that Gallo dude into saying something first!).

I really like Paul Harris's PDQ from (AoA). The reasons are many. Firstly it can (and should) be done in the spectators hands. It is totally impromptu (no gimmicks, no extras, just four coins). It's very clean looking and the last jump is the strongest (super clean). The last coin could (and should) jump from your hand into the spectators closed fist. If you don't know it, check it out. One of my favorite impromptu pieces, and not to difficult either.

David Stone's final vanish in his coins across routine in which four coins are used is very effective in my opinion. He uses a double HPC move after the second coin travels across from his hand to the spectator's hand. The coin(s) ahead principle comes in handy at this phase. Therefore, the "work is done" by time you are ready to make the last coin vanish and travel across.
Another suggestion is that you make try the "Pumpkin Seed" sleeve vanish for the final coin. There are some caveats with this method: (1) you have to be wearing a jacket, which of course is obvious; and (2) droping your hand down to your side, to get the coin into position for the vanish, must be a natural and motivated motion that is consistent with your presentation. Again, these are mere suggestions. Thank you for posting this question. The responses that it generated will help expand my handling of this classic coin routine. Earl |

A pull off lapping, or more recently I use something like a retention vanish but I keep the coin in the palm position.
