Illusion77,
I'd be happy to answer your questions about my ACAAN effect. I do realize this has been discussed elsewhere on the forum... The effect as the audience sees it: The performer talks about how impossible it would be to know exactly what card a subject would name given its 1 in 52 chance nature. He goes on to explain why it's not so impossible with a bit of playful psychological bullying. Please know that any card may be named along with any number. It's a series of set-ups to make the effect seem more and more impossible. On its conclusion an isolated deck of cards that has not been touched by the performer is opened and the cards are removed by the subject. Finally all of the counting is also done by the subject in which he or she will find the card at the exact location named. I hope this helps. -Patrick Redford |

I'll add that I had no interest in the ACAAN plot until I read Patrick's version. Other versions had left me pretty cold for one reason or another, but his was so clean and so clever, it just got me. Plus it allowed for a presentational hook I had been trying to work out for a while. Highy recommended.
Every problem contains the seeds of its own solution. Unfortunately every problem also contains the seeds of an infinite number of non-solutions, so that first part really isn't super helpful.

I've said it before - I think your additions to that effect are tremendous. I think Patrick should include them if the book undergoes another printing run. -Ben Blau

Ben, that's very kind of you to say. I still regard my so-called "additions" as little more than work-around solutions to compensate for my own deficiencies as performer, but if other people get something out of them, I'm glad.

The ACAAN effect is a dandy, but it's Patrick's rhyming patter that really makes it work. God, that man can do anything.

Mendacity - A Review By The Doktor
After reading reviews by Banachek and others The Doktor decided to invest in Mendacity and Consecution. Mendacity is excellent. The Doktor found special resonance in the intermissions, which offer advice that has been needed to be screamed out loud for a long time. Buy the book and The Doktor challenges you to not mimmick the effects but read between the lines and use Patricks principles to formulate your own. This book is not for the casual mentalist but for the serious performer it is an invaluable resource. Buy the book. H D X!

Patrick have you ever thought about putting these out on e-book. I am now an e-book junkie. It is just to easy. I can take 20 books with me where ever I go.

Humble opinion - I love paper books - especially Harc Cover - the academic / romantic about books / collector in me.... I have been buying e-books - and always think - gee - if only they would have turned this into a tome - I'd buy it... plus, if someone wants to steal, at least you forced them to photocopy all the pages and break the spine of the book (at Magicnotes - I like when I do buy ebooks how they personalize it as your copy with name etc - to prevent spreading the work)...
Chichi - buy the books - in any form - they are great! I do a modified Eidolon and Forgotten almost all the time - and then there is the Naughty Bits

Thank you Gentleman. There are no plans to release anything in electronic format. I loath this format with a passion when it comes to my publications.
Thank you for your kind interest as always. -Patrick Redford |

Although it would be cool in a few years to take all your work, have it all bound in leather and gold lettered edition, with a tray-case... "The Fabulator - the Collected works of Patrick Redford" - signed of course - limited edition of 100 - with expanded scripts, cool pictures, and other goodies.

So much info to digest, these books sound really good and Prevaricator is really drawing my interest. But I just got 13 Steps to Mentalism and I think I need to digest the basics of mentalism first. Then maybe either Mendacity or Prevaricator.
