Hi
just a short review of tim's performance at the southport i.b.m. (uk) convention he did a few weeks back! wow! well worth the admission fee! Tim's performance and lecture really made this years convention! a view shared by many who also watched. tim's performance has really inspired me to further improve my own act, to make it not just 45 mins of magic but 45 mins of entertainment. Not just 45 mins of entertainment for kids but for adults as well. I'll be honest though - when Tim arrived on stage in shorts and t-shirt I wasn't expecting much! and he started singing as well!! but, it worked - it really did! The kids were hooked, following every word, move, gag, message etc. The teachers (of the pupils) could only admire Tim's ease of audience control (particularly at the end when tim orchrestred each class to exit the theatre in total silence- military style!!) And the rest of the audience (the magicians) were most impressed - you could tell this by the way no one left their seats until both the show and lecture had finished! (not the case for most of the other lectures!) great stuff! chris |

Chris...
Thanks for the great review. But just so our friends from the USA don't have the wrong picture in their mind... My "shorts" were black warm up "pants", which match my customized Pro-Kids baseball jersey. The idea is to not look like a typical "magician" to the kids. Along the same line, I've heard that David Ginn got lots of laughs when he told an audience in the UK that sometimes he does shows in a "vest" and "pants". Evidently these clothing words mean different things in the USA and the UK!

Tim- your costume was in fitting with your act. suppose it would look odd for you to be wearing a tux for that kind of show!

Tim,
I've heard great things about your show. I really like the fact that you've "broken the mold" when it comes to the "look" of a magician in schools. Kids want to see something different and magical. It keeps their attention (and stays true to who we are as individual performers). I used to live in Plainfield (long before I did Magic for a living...I worked as the marketing guy for a Chicago art school). Plainfield's such a sweet town...and growing fast! Keep up the great work! Chris |
