I have a set of ceramic "rune stones." They are about one inch by 3/4 inch and oval in shape, and a little more than 1/8 inch in thickness. There are 25 of them altogether, including one blank. Actually, the runes can be grouped into two groups of twelve according to similarity (for example, x and +, or |and __), plus the blank. Perhaps they can be grouped in other ways.
I am looking for some way to use them in a bizarre magic effect and would welcome suggestions. One idea I have is to have three selected plus the blank and do a matrix effect, but that seems weak. Another possibility is to use a system detailed in Glenn Gravatt's Treasure Trove of Tricks that uses a set of cards based on the two group idea. This would be awkward with the stones, to say the least. Can anyone suggest anything? I'm open to any ideas. Thanks.

"The Gates of Wyrd" by Van Warren is magic based on the Runes. his ideas are excellent and well explained as well. its like the Book of Thoth only with runes, one of a kind.

There is no 'blank' rune as such. The one you refer to is the 'Wyrd' rune stone. When cast it means that there is something in the future of the sitter that it is best they do not know. This does not mean that it is necessarily bad. For example it might be that they are going to pass an exam and if they were told in advance they may stop studdying so hard.
The best thing to do with rune stones is use them for psychic readings. When doing rune casting I usually throw in the odd prediction with the help of equ****e. Keith Hart Check out http://www.blackhart.co.uk/page20.html

Thanks, Black Hart. I have used the rune stones for readings, but I am looking to use them in an *effect*. I wasn't sure everyone would understand "Wyrd," and using the Gravatt pairing idea would exclude its use. He(ck), they're ALL weird (or is that us?). Your course looks very useful and I will be purchasing it in the near future. BTW, your polished stones are beautiful!

Thank you Bill.
The course is called 'Runes With a View' because it is with a view to making money doing readings. I have often toyed with developing some routines with runes along the lines of coin routines, but I'm not very good at coin magic... Keith Hart
