I'm baffled why we are feeling the desire to judge this book before anyone has read it. This all brings to mind a conversation I had with my stepson a few years back.
Sometimes when we have the right to do something, it doesn't mean we should. We all have opinions, but that doesn't mean we should or need to express them whenever and wherever they happen. Great, you don't like the title. But before we say so we need to look at our own motivations. Are you expressing yourself because you want me not to buy the book? Do you want Max to reprint it with a new title? Or are you just writing to see your words in print? Either way. . . what you think won't change whether I spend the money on this book or not (I probably will, if I have the extra money). But, if it's just some sort of written masturbation then please, for everyone's sake, keep it in the privacy of your own home. You're taking up communal web space for your own gratification. I'm sorry if people are offended by the title of Max's book (or by these comments). But, I don't think Max cares one way or the other what you or I think. You are allowed to think and say what you like, it's one of our Constituional rights in this country. However, that doesn't mean it's always appropriate to do so. Then again, maybe I should take my own advice. Happy Halloween everyone, Mark

Mark,
Just offering one explanation as to the desire to slam this book. The description is vague, to put it mildly. We all have been burned by purchases we have made in this field. So I can see the reluctance, and perhaps, the desire to be critical of this. That said, a few thoughts. Max does not put out crap. ALso, Hermetic product is first rate, based on past purchases. I do not think that Hermetic, or Mr. Maven for that matter, would soil its reputation on a $50 joke. I can't see it. I did order mine 2 weeks ago. I await it, and will judge then. I'll take that chance. |

Andrew, Perhaps upon reading the book, the title will not be offensive. Maybe it will. I don't know. MAybe the title is a fitting commentary. Maybe there are parrallels with something Max wishes to discuss. I don't know. (I know nothing of the Protocols which people assume this references.)
Once the title is put into context and we know what it means, rather than guess what it means, THEN anyone can be as furious as they want. I just don't care to see the "me too" game being played out on the Café. We both saw that on the coin thread. One guy had an issue with something that was said, then everybody jumped aboard crucifying a lecturer that no one else saw. I feel this is similar. Until we KNOW what the title is meant to be, then we are committing the same "Crime." Expressing concern is fine, but being offended without knowing what or why the title was chosen is not a prudent choice, I feel. Brad |

You're right Brad, we should reserve judgement.
If you're not familiar with the original book, then the reaction of some may come as a surprise. I think it's certainly true that many at the Café don't appreciate the baggage associated with Protocols. Whatever the case may be - Max Maven wanted controversy and perhaps he's got it!

I think Max would have not chosen the title unless it served more than the creation of controversy. We shall soon see.

Henderson, you're a smart man. I don't think it could be put any better, or simpler - people are judging the book purely by its cover.
I for one understand Maven's new book will be an illustrated Children’s Christmas story in the style of the venerable Enid Blyton. |

I also took offense to the title. I wouldn't buy it any way. Almost without exception, most of what Max has put out isn't worth buying anyway. I know this may upset most of the sheep on this forum but I am entitled to my opinion as well and if I am going to fork over my hard earned money, it will be for something worth buying.

No one here knows what this book is about
And no one has to buy it. If you don't feel comfortable with a blind buy, then... don't buy it. If you think that the "marketing approach" is not a fair one... don't buy it. If you don't like Maven's Material, don't buy it. If you need to know what is it about before purchasing, then don't buy it yet and wait for the release. Again : None of us knows what this book is about and no one has to buy anything. I just wanted to get that out of myself... |

I think this entire project is one big mind-control experiment/exhibition - and we are all the guinea pigs. He is watching us right now and laughing at the general madness and speculation that he has so easily created. Brilliant!

It's so easy to create something that the members of this online forum think is a big stink. Max wrote a book that is going to be released, and the only thing known is the title. More than that is not known by most people, yet there are so many who are quick to judge. That's their option too. I don't judge them for it. It does seem kinda silly to me. Lots of wheels spinning. Are they going anywhere? I don't think so. Following the protocols, Jordan |

To fuel more concerned speculation: What if Danny Diamond is correct?
Mr. Maven has been a Café member for years and is sometimes known to loiter about these cyber-environs. Maybe he's just trying out some neurolinguistic experiments. Dual reality. Verbal muscle-reading. Or maybe he's just tired of Derren Brown getting all the attention. If he's following this thread, do you think he's frowning or laughing? Or maybe's he's just sharpening his widow's peak? |
