Hey Everyone!

I subscribed to Penumbra nearly a year ago and still have not yet received my first issue. I got a letter from William Goodwin and a sample back issue when I first subscribed, but nothing else since then. Does anyone know what's going on???

Yep,
It's at the printers right now and will probably be in your mailbox within the next couple weeks.

At least that's what Mr. Goodwin told me.

Bill Goodwin is a nice guy. Bill Goodwin is also a great card handler who has devoted years of his life to the study and practice of close up magic. Bill is also highly literate. All of these things together make him highly qualified to put out a magazine like the penumbra.

Bill rarely lectures, performs publicly or turns a profit on the penumbra. In other words, his involvement with magic is done out of love for the art. What this means is that he can't devote as much time as he'd like to magic or the penumbra.

If you are dissatisfied with your subscription, call him up or email him and ask for a rebate. It's likely that you'll get it. On the other hand, if you want what the magazine then realize that it's a labor of love that is done when he has time. Consequently, it might not come as regularly as Magic or Genii.

Bill Goodwin is also a poor keeper of time.

I subscribe to Time magazine.
Many of the articles are written by persons who have devoted their lives to journalism - many have degrees! Most are highly literate and qualified.

I want the magazine, I don't care if it's a labour of love, I don't care if the writers lecture or not; I want the magazine. I paid for the magazine!

A year and a couple of weeks is unacceptable.

Wake up people!

It doesn't matter whether he does this for profit or out of the goodness of his heart. Once you take people's money, you have an obligation to deliver.

If Goodwin has time to sell a Larry Jennings book, then he should have time to put out a magazine that people already paid for.

Yep, shame shame on Mr. Goodwin. I don't think he's one of the "nice guys". If he was, he'd deliver a product people paid for. It's one thing to be a few weeks late in a periodical, but this is behavior is wrong.

It's a shanda.
