I am looking for a simple magic set with a book suitable for 7 year old children. I want to offer it as an extra for people that book my show for children's parties. Does anyone know of a good wholesale item that would be appropriate? Does anyone have experience up-selling this type of item with a children's party show?

Try C.J. Johnson's "Instant Author Kit" available at http://www.cjjohnson.com or you can get a better price if you buy it through Magic Coach at

Hey Mike in Knoxville, how are you? Good to see you at Kidabra.
I have CJ's book and it is the best. I have sold over one hundred books in 2 months. Magic sets- you can buy personalized ones from Royal Magic at 1-773-745-3837. You have to buy a minimum. They may want a tax I.D. or SS number. But the sets will look like they are yours because it will have your picture on it. You can buy cheaper sets from D. Robbins but again you have to buy a minimum of $200.00 but it is well worth it to stock up on. I sell sets after shows. And at the birthday parties, I include it in my BIG package show for birthdays. They cost me around $2.90 and I sell them for $5.00 to the birthday moms. I also sell magic wands that cost about $0.27 each and I sell them for $1.00. Selling magic is the way to make a ton of extra money. Best, Ken Scott http://www.kenscottmagic.com |

Ken, Mike, and Andrew,
I checked out your web sites after looking at CJ's site and the two Author kits. It sounds good and looks good so I ordered both. Ken and Mike, Do you remember what Terry Evanswood said about his magic video for the members of Kidabra? There is another income stream along with these books. Thanks for the link and the information! Dennis Michael (My new Stage Name)

I created my own magic set and ordered props from Robbins such as: wands, cups and balls, Two Card Monte, a Svengali deck, and some other neat things. I put all of this in a box, and I ordered the boxes from http://www.uline.com. I printed up a cover sheet for the box and glued it on; then I wrapped everything in shrink wrap. Looks great and I sell them at all my shows!

Looks like a great marketing idea. Extra streams of income are always great.

Magic sets make for wonderful BOR (Back of Room) sales as well as add-ons for your b-day party offerings. I use and sell them a lot at my fairs and it really works out wonderfully.
