Give credit where credit is do...
I think they did a very nice job for the price range.. a bit high but come on everything in magic is over priced... Just think the time you save and the mistakes you will make by building an illusion... Jonathan Pendragon spoke about building your own props... He said it cost him more money and time... I must agree... But hey I built my first shadow box out of sheets and wooden planks for $20 and got amazing results... So in the beginning you do what you have to do... But now I have all my equipment built by a pro... Slim King you brought up many good points... Although I am not in a different part of the country each week, but a different part of the world each month .... Shipping does get costly... but however that cost is usually picked up by the client... Last year alone shipping has cost over $12,000 for my show... which only $50 came out of my pocket... But I do try to have things built for easey shipping.... Now I just need to figure out how to pack a vanishing car and 4 cases to be checked on a plane as regular bags.. .ehehhe... p.s. Where can I order the vanishing statue liberty tent? eheheh

Have you guys checked out the performance video. There is no denying that audience reaction!
Maybe this woudn't fit into a glitz and glamour show but it certainly would have a place in a lot of less formal shows in many schools. The look is for a haunted house theme, it's not supposed to be pretty. There are other skins for other presentations. The web site has a nice red and white that looks pretty good. I think the price is high as well but you can't beat the portability. It's hard to get a 40 inch foam board into a car with all the other equipment without damaging it (yes I've tried ) Beside I only perform on stage a few times a year. I wouldn't want to recut foam board every time and storing 40 inch pieces in my house (with my kids) would be a challenge. Personnally I intend to give this a second look and to talk to Brian at Creative Magic. |

Tomasko, I wasn't seriously presenting those ideas; those were just illustrations, examples to help make my point. I never suggested the cubes are bad, simply that they are not so original as to call them "original." It's a different manufacturing material, not an entirely fresh concept IMO.
And, you show good judgement in choosing not to use a canvas-and-PVC-outhouse in your show! But it *might* work ... look at the $&!% Penn & Teller had on TV last week ... that surely belonged in an outhouse. |

Starr-
I wasn't posting a reply to your post/ideas; just merely stating my opinion on the product as a whole. I just can't see it being used in my show. But the other products- I could probably work in. That's all. best regards, Matt

Origins: The Shadow Box/Girl from the Light has had both methods used. One from the back (as originated) and many others have used a base concealment. So in this instance the tent is just an adaption, with a change in the "box" design.

Brian was on the road and has e-mailed me. The e-mail did not get to him but he saw my post and immediately got in contact with me.

Thanks Brian for the Info.
To everyone one else Brian is very straight forward with his answers and very helpful as I had a very specific question about the product and he answered back with no reservations or held back any info directly related to my question. Hope to do business with him soon. Brian by the way did Mac King come up with the Bear idea himself or did you help him with it on the Tent?
