How about a little explanation first, rather than direct people directly to a video ?

Those of us with broadband tend to forget that lots of people are still stuck on dialup.

I love emerging technologies in magic, but, as long as this particular principle is limited to a small number of viewers, it will only be useful for TV specials (too expensive for street magic or close-up work). Meanwhile, there's still low-tech Pepper's Ghost.

It looks to me to be a complicated way to do what the green screen technique can do. How is this better?

Interesting how it only works when the CAMERA is pointed straight on through the angled glass to begin with. Very close to pepper's ghost from the start IMHO.

It would seem to be very angle-sensitive. It is hard to see how it might be used live. A peep-hole? Use a video camera? Then you're back to square one. It strikes me as not unlike building a radio-controlled TT.

I can see some possible future uses of this. BUT, we have been doing basicly the same thing, perhaps even better and definitely cheaper for years with mirrors.
Remember, its ALL done with smoke and mirrors.
Peace,
Parson

Can you imagine your "assistant" walking behind you, and actually passing his hand through you? or whoever the ghost is you pass your hand through him?

just my two cents!

I think it's a powerfull tool for a "scene" set up, vanishings, apparitions,3d stage effetcs as real time special effects "body change, glowing effects etc ..
the difference with glasses is that you can interact in real time with the image, like moving an appearing point on your body with your finger.
take a look at their websites

Maze, can an audience look at this stuff or is it limited to field of view through a pane of glass?

I first saw this on slashdot.org, a computergeek forum, about a year or more ago.
Pretty nifty tech. The tech I really can't wait for is e-ink and e-paper though.
I haven't thought of magical applications for it, but I'm sure something is possible.

I recall reading about this technology quite some time ago. Looks really cool but not practical and far out of financial reach for most people. Still, it's pretty freaking phenomenal!!

Johnathan T hit the nail on the head. Its a form of Pepper's ghost. I don't think its as revolutionary as the company makes it out to me.

The green screen effect Bill Ligon mentioned is called a chroma key, but that is a different process.

Yep... definitely peppers ghost. People are so quick to jump to technology to explain such things. Heres something I did and everyone explained it with lazer projection. It was nothing other than plain old peppers ghost.
