Has anyone tried this:
Just ask someone their name, swipe your hand across their face while stating “I can’t remember” and watch. For me I think I will try to use waking hypnosis stunts as a spring board to introduce hypnosis.

I don't know if this is a new idea (I doubt it) but theoretically it cannot fail. Here's the idea:
Place a light object on a table and have them lift it. Then, tell them that in a moment they will try to lift it again but they won't be able to because the item will be extremely heavy. You cover the object with a handkerchief to help them imagine that the item is just a block of heavy lead. Tell them to really imagine that it's lead and that when they are really convinced in their mind that it is lead and that they won't be able to lift it because it's so heavy, they are to try and pick it up. When they try, they theoretically shouldn't be able to pick it up since they are only allowed to try and pick it up when they have convinced themselves completely that it is too heavy for them to lift. You don't really need the handkerchief, but it helps with the presentation of imagination. |

Richard Osterlind does the "Abnormal Lift" and the "Armlock Test" as pseudo-hypnosis stunts on his DVD "Easy to Master Mental Miracles, Vol. 3."

Wow, I have these but can't remember seeing the armlock test as a pseudo hypno stunt. To be honest I didn't even know it existed.

Ormand McGill lists a whole bunch under "Waking Hypnosis" in his book "The New Encyclopedia of Stage Hypnotism." I don't think I'm getting my terminology mixed up by referring to these as "pseudo-hypno stunts."
