Hi there,
Last night I did my first ever proper show which was a charity event. On 26th Sep 05 I sealed a perdiction with a mayor and the local radio present for the Glass Box Prediction. Last night I opened with some simple design duplication which got everyone warmed up. It was a similar thing to what James Bliss describes in his book as Psycho Warm Up. I was delighted at the response to such a simple idea. After the warm up I went into a flashback type effect which ended as a drawing duplication and that went down a storm too. I did the "Guess the colour of the underwear" idea from James Bliss Book. Again. V V V simple but very entertaining for the audience. I finished off the first half with a bagged fork bend. Then there was a quiz night when I went aroud the tables bending forks and keys and doing the old silver bilet lite on paperbacks bought by the audience. Their own books etc. In the second half I did a lottery number effect followed by the Glass Box idea. As it is bold I was nervous but played it with confidence and pulled it off. I could not believe the applause. Really I am just saying a big thanks to you all. I haven't posted much here but I have read lots of your comments and you have helped me with this show. Thank you one and all. Ian

Hi Ian,
Also congrats from me. I really enjoyed reading your post since I could feel your enthusiasm about your show. So all of us performers know how you feel now and how such a great first success can push you forward. You've made the first big step of a performing carreer since you now experienced yourself that the material you use works more than well on an audience and that more important they love you and your presentation. All the best for your further performances. Greetings Thomas |

Thank you Thomas.
You know I really felt that they liked my open and friendly presentation. I felt like I was just being me and everyone seemed to warm to that. Thank you again for your comments and you are right I am so enthusiastic to "go again". The charity raised a fair amount of money too so that was a real bonus. Ian

Sounds like a really good show. I know everyone here would like to congratulate you!
My first show, for charity like yours, was only a few months ago and it certainly wasn't as well structured or routined as yours but still a load of fun, so I know you must have had a blast! Well done. Tom. |
