Where can I find effects that deal with the body? Like pain tolerance and similar things. There doesn't seem to be much I can find. Also please don't mention things like swami mantra that deal with the REAL ways of doing things. Thanks for your help.
PS. Here are the body effects I know of, just so they don't get rementioned. Pyro perception Ashes on the arm Palm ash Needle through arm Stigmata Anything on the geek magic dvd

NightBringer,
There is a book called Body Magic by John Fisher. I have not read it and have not been able to find it, but I hear that they are rare and expensive. Peace, Parson

'Body Magic' is in our local library, so I've borrowed it a few times.
As far as I can recall there is nothing pertaining to the 'pain' type of effect. There is a portion dealing with touch whereby a subject with their eyes closed is mislead as to the touches they experiences on their skin. If two closely separated single points of contact (e.g. the double ends of a tuning fork) are touched to the skin in the area of the subject's hand, they appear to the subject (correctly) as two separate contact points because there are many nerves on the surface of the skin at that point. However, if those same two contact points, are slid along the skin to an area halfway up the subject's arm, they appear to be only a single contact point because of the lack of as many nerves in that area. |

See "From the Heart" in the October issue of Magic magazine. It's based on an idea in the Encyclopedia of Impromptu Magic.

The effect of "From the Heart" is simple: After making a tent of their fingers, the audience is asked to separate each pair of fingertips. They find one pair impossible to separate. The theme of the routine revolves around some phalangeal folklore.
