I am interested in these effects. I have liquid metal which I highly recommend but I wanted to get another one. I read some reviews for perfect bend which looked pretty neat on the demo but the reviews made me not want to buy it. If some fellow magicians could throw some recomondations or some simular effects to me that would be FANTASTIC!!!!!
Thanks a lot guys Chris |

Chad Sanborn's "Optical Bend" is a very nice and visual bend. I've done it for people and have them completely freak out and believe that what I just did was real.
Richard Osterlind's "Mysteries of the Mind" DVD series has two different bends. Both are very strong and very visual. Plus, you get the inside thoughts on what makes Richard's bends so believable. Guy Bavli's "Bending Minds Bending Metal" is a fantastic collection of methods, thoughts and techniques. Gerry and Banachek's "Psychokinetic Silverware" is a staple (for me at least) into the world of metal bending. Banachek is very thorough in his explanations and gives you insight into the psychology behind metal bending and when and when not to use it. The only complaint that I had about this DVD is that Gerry is very annoying and seemed like he was trying to steal the spotlight from Banachek. You could tell that, a few times, Banachek sounds a bit frustrated with him. It's actually kind of funny. Stars of Magic "Metalogic" is a pretty nice bend. It's got a little bit of a funny handling, but it can be tailored to be a very strong and extremely visual bend (and break if you choose to) of a spoon. There's a wealth of other material that is out there, but I can't recommend something that I do not have nor use. I know that the material listed above is good stuff and I use it all of the time in the real world. I'm a big fan of visual effects and things that happen in the spectator's hands and the techniques you will learn from the above list will definitely give you that. Good luck! |

Agreed r1z08, Banachek's DVD is the way to go - psychokinetic silverware is where to start. Rather than buy one bend, it is the place to learn as it not only teaches the techniques, but also the psychology and misdirection of metalbending - this is what makes metal bending so strong. Presented as just another 'trick', it loses most of its power.

Do you want a DVD or a trick? Because "Perfect Bend" by E. Moshe'is a beautiful trick, but you must do a switch; also you can use "Molten Metal" by B. Solari, that is even better because you can take the spoon directly from the table in plain view. But the best bending fork I've ever seen is this one, check it out: http://www.hongkongmagicman.com/video.htm You can find it in Hank Lee, but it's a little bit expensive... Only $ 695.00.

Hey mattisdx,
"Does the bend actually take place on the magician's open hand?" Do is this a question for me? If yes, I'll tell you that the mentioned trick yes, take place in the magi's open hand, there is no gimmick (the fork IS a gimmick and is real metal), and is really a wonderful trick!! But as in life, nothing is really good in all the aspects, because this is a trick that you cannot show in a restaurant, unless you have a set up... It's worth if you need a bending effect for a video clip or for a short performance on TV. If somebody want a better "hint", email me and I'll instruct you better. paolo@jokermagicweb.com Magically, Paolo Venturini |

I honestly don't know why 'anyone' would be foolish enough to spend 695.00 for a 'gimmicked' spoon. Heck, for that money, you could buy every Metal Bending DVD and book on the market, and have plenty of coin still in your pocket, and a library CHOCK FULL of amazing material to draw inspiration from.
As amazing as it looks, it just ISN'T worth that kind of money, and it's totally impractical, at least in 'my' opinion. I'll stick with ungimmicked cutlery, and stick to the teachings and methods of Bannachek, Richard O., Patrik Kuffs, Chad Sanborn and Guy Bavli. Those guys offer a wealth of ideas, and I'm sure there are others. Happy Bending... smitty |
