I find a vest looks the best. If you can create a persona that uses fisherman equiptment, their vest are the best. Loads of pockets and it looks appropriate. I found that wearing a fanny pack gets in the way. I dont like them much, I prefer my pockets.
...my 2 cents.

Sorry guys, but I'd never make it even one block in my neighborhood wearing a fanny pack.

Better come up with something else.

OK, James, how about a couple of big leather shoulder Holsters?

In my Hood, nobody messes with someone packed out like that Smile

Doors close, and lights go out as they pass by..... Hmmm, that might make it hard to draw a tip...

I see all kinds of them turning up at the 2nd hand stores. I bought a beautiful leather one for $2.99.

You can get quite a deal on leather fanny packs these days... just large enough for the props (cards, rings, small C&B, loads, etc...) with a little cloth and thread you can add small pockets for your coin gaffs, TT, and packet tricks. And most have a small zippered pouch on the inside/backside for stashing your tips!

Cheers!

Okay, I think Wal*Mart has nicely resolved the negative marketing impact of the "fanny pack" by renaming it a "sport bag." I hear they were toying with "you're not from around here, are you rubbernecker" as a back-up, but I like "sports bag."

Deciding that a waist-band servante with a separate pouch might work best for my needs, I went to Wally World yesterday and found a nice shoulder-slung pouch...now, knock that off! It is NOT a Man-Purse! For $6.97, it looks like a small back-pack with only one strap, plus a nice handle on the top and it's got a large zippered main compartm...aw, nuts. Maybe it is a Man Purse...anyway, there's room for stuff and I like that. Yeah, besides, imagine how this could be accessorised...

The plan is to use this pack to tote things and the servante pouch to ditch stuff. I dunno how it's gonna work out, but we'll see.

I have always used a fanny pack. On occasions at a formal event, I do not use one because of the formalness of the event, but nearly every other occasion from bars, to kids partys. It works well for me.
Of course every event and every performer is different, but it works well for me. Bass Pro Shops have great fanny packs and I think Kmart is a good location as well... they have a pretty good hunting clothing section.

You can modify a servers pouch (basically a modified apron) to serve whatever needs you have, even if it looks completely different from what the servers in the restaurant wear (if you do walk-around in a restaurant), it sorta suggests to people that you work there. Plus you can use it like a topit.

I use a 'fanny' pack all the time. The ones they have out now have so many different pocket in now. Sometimes at hardware shops you can get nice leather tools belts.

Perofrming magic with a toolbelt on. Somehow that does not seem inspring.

I have one as well, I don't wear it, but it is a perfect size for throwing in your car etc. Mine has a exterior pocket for cell phones, it is the perfect size for a deck of cards.
