Hi guys just a quick question, what do you think is the quickest way to sort out a shuffled deck of cards into new deck order? I think lennart green does some sort of 4 suit angle separation, a super cull may work or just old fashioned put them into piles on the table. What do you think is the quickest method. I am talking a completely random shuffled deck

Tamariz has a few methods in "Mnemonica" - I believe there's one by Green (Angle Separation) and one by Lorayne (The Great Divide). These are worth a look.

The absolute fastest way is a deck switch.
An easy way to do that would be to implement Simon Lovell's "Packed Wallet" effect. A funny and entertianing routine with a free deck switch. Genius in it's simplicity. Other than that, If there was a "fastest", we'd all be doing the same thing. It's easy to get to red-black spearation and relatively easy to get to suit separation. New Deck order. Hmm... I better go back and check out the lennart green videos. Lennart has a fantastic way to get to red-black, face-up, right in front of the spectators. They even watch and cannot see it happening. Right on the table. I love it. Fantastic.

Speaking of Culls, etc... I have a question.
I feel that my cull is SOOO obvious and I am wondering if there are any tips out there to make the culling of the card more invisible. I realize practice, but my issue is that I don't want to practice something wrong, only to break it. Tips? Thanks! John |

John and Amir - Check out Kostya Kimlat's companion video showing him demonstrating his Roadrunner Cull (which I believe is similar to Ortiz' Underspread Cull). While the Cull is NOT explained on the video - you can see him perform and check that against what you are doing. Obviously, the Green DVD's demonstrate what Lennart's Cull should look like. Enjoy. - Scott

Scott, John, and Amir,
Kostya's Roadrunner Cull is in his lecture notes titled "Alecture Collection". He does tell you how to separate the suits, but true new deck order? Maybe it's time to ring in a cooler. Best regards, Karl |

I am not sure if Sleight King is talking about doing this sorting out thing secretly. I assume he is but just out of interest is there a fast method to sort a shuffled deck into order, openly?
I have to sort a deck into order every 30 minutes at my poker game, when the dealers change over. I have no real need to do it fast but I was wondering if there is a fast way. Lately I have been using Angle Separation to do it, just for practice.

I usually sort in suits first, then fan them and strip the cards in order into the other hand. There are probably faster ways though..

In ECT it says push the reds up and blacks down then strip them. Maybe do that and then do simular with the suits. Then fan each 13 like holding a card hand and sort them. That's how I do it sometimes, but I have no fixed way.

To put them back in sequence...
1. First pass - upjog all of the black cards, strip them out and put them to the face (deck condition should be 26 red cards, 26 black cards from top to bottom) 2. Second Pass - upjog all of the spades and diamonds, strip them to the face (deck condition should be 13 hearts, 13 clubs, 13 diamonds, 13 spades from the top to bottom) 3. The cards are sorted by suit, now all you have to do is put them in sequence (from top to bottom - A-K hearts, A-K clubs, K-A diamonds, K-A spades). If you do it a few times, you can sequence the deck relatively quick. |

Yes.... that is it... 2 out-jog culls and then steal from a fan onto deck.
The only thing I add is to classic pass the suit to the bottom of the deck... I can get under a minute using this. If you are wondering, there was a post on the Café which had another good method, which basically involved 6 full deck culls to get right order(I don't have author but have this from my notes) I actually get about 55 seconds with this 6 cull method, and 45 seconds with 2 cull/ fan suits and steal method, but its quoted here anyway: Quote:
The following cull will set up the deck sorted from the face A-K, SDCH. I tried to structure it to minimise the number of cards culled on each pass. It assumes you cull the cards to the rear of the deck each time. |

Upjog the clubs and hearts and strip out to create two packets.
Remove (for example) the clubs in order and table them. Remove the remaining cards (hearts in this example) in order. Repeat with the other half. |

Daegs,
I may have posted that 6-cull sequence, but I can't tell for sure. A friend of mine (Nathan Becker) adapted the Brother John Hamman cull from The Secrets of Bro Hamman to a new deck sequence, and I believe I've posted it before. It's almost identical to what you've posted. Jason
