Alright... I am on a mission to come up with chrome or a stainless steel look for two six foot appearing poles... I plan to produce them out of a S/C in a high energy act... and do several spins with them as you would see someone do with a bow-staff... Can it be done? Can I cover a shower rod cover with Mylar or holographic tape or will it crack and peel? All ideas are grewatly appreciated!

Fantasio told me that the plastic canes can be painted with the plastic spray paint. Possibly this would work for you.
I think if the mylar was thin enough it would work ok without cracking. Richard

Applied finishes will eventually need touch ups. You could use aluminum duct tape. Another option might be an aluminum rake handle or a wood broom handle with a painted finish... it works in Hollywood. Ever notice that jail cell bars in movies are often made using thick dowels painted grey?

I believe Krylon Fusion comes in chrome/silver. Fusion is specially formulated to bond with plastic much better than regular spray paint. One tip: Follow every spray paint's individual intructions as best yoou can to optimize you finish and the time it will last.
