I just recieved mine, thanks Steve. By the way, any tips on making them jump?
|

OK, I got mine jumping 18 to 20 inches!
A small tip for the effect in the Max Maven book, Prism- make sure the disc in under the hank but not in the hank. In other words, there is more movement if the disc jumps from the table and the "jump" is not absorbed by the cloth... |

Equivoque,
Yeah placing the disc on a solid surface is much better. it is possible to increase the jumping by effectly putting more form into the disc, this will make the point of the disc travel further until it hits the surface. Placing the disc on a cloth etc, is better for just producing a sound of something snapping ( another routine uses this). One method I have used , when there is a table cloth present and moveing it isn't possible is I have used a dinner plate to place the item on. then covered with a table napkin, the sound is pretty interesting as well. Glad the discs are starting to turn up, I will imagaine the non US discs will take a little longer but if anyone in the US by mid next week hasnt recevied them, please pm me as I put delivery confirmation on all of them. Kind regards steve
I do look forward to the day when you post something constructive.

Yes thanks again Steve. Also think about using the discs with your spirit silk to create hands off movement! Eugene Burger makes the best spirit silk for the money!

What do you think the longest time before the jump could be?
If you had a heat source for instance.

Time is determined by how much heat you put into it. e.g I held one to a cup of hot chocky for about 10 sec, and got nearly 3 mins before a jump! bear in mind these disc will snap/jump at around 70-75oF i.e if the temp of a surface is above the temp, the disc will not snap. but I can't imagine a normal suface being that hot ,unless outside during summer.
So if you want increase the time delay put more heat into it, these disc will snap the other way on its own...once its reaches 400oF..lol. As its winter time I have used coffe cups etc to do this, or maybe and this is justa thought if you need something a little less visual, one of the sport heat packs? maybe in a jacket pocket etc. just an idea. regards steve

Its "At the Mountains of Madness" ---- first part of proving out of body powers...
One effect: Some people take objects out of an old explorer's box - mentalist turns back - one person chooses an item (free choice (yeah right)) to put back in the box with a pencil and blank peice of paper and closes box.... A few moments later everyone hears a "THWACK" sound from the box - it is opened - the pencil is snapped in 1/2 and the name of the object is written on the paper... Do ze math Bruce

Hmm,
at what point does the magician touch the box? (trying to figure out the pencil bit)

The magician takes things out of the box, displays the blank paper and pencil, puts these in the box... goes away and sits down - spec puts chosen item in box - box lid closes - magician goes into a trance.... SNAP...magician "wakes up" and says "You chose the (x)..didn't you... I know...I saw it...open the box... see for yourself....!"... inside is the scrawl on the paper with the item and the pencil snapped in 1/2... with item X
I can't give anything else out about the trick...but the box is aluminum! B
