Hi All,
Can anyone help me out? I live in the UK so can not check for myself. Does anyone know if their local Walgreens still stocks the old style stud cards? If your local does and you are willing to help me purchase them I would really appreciate it. I would cover the cost of the cards, plus post and what ever you want to add on top for your trouble, within reason. Please let me know if anyone can help. In Magic Steve Dela |

Steve, when you say old style are you talking about the thinner stock that was used before USPCC bought them out? I will check my walgreens tomorrow when I am out for you.

Steve, I checked my local Walgreen's yesterday and all the Stud decks were the new ones with the darker blue box. Sorry. I'll keep my eye out, though.

The one ones are beautiful. Wish they had bike faces, though.

Cheers Reis,
and Chris. I agree, I just prefer to use thinner cards. I think they are nicer to use as they feel are perfectly 'broken in' straight from the box. I have been thinking about a custom order from Gemaco, their cards are thinner than bikes and the quality IMHO is slightly better. But if I can get Gemaco to use a thinner stock I wont hesitate in ordering myself 500 decks. Thanks to everyone that is checking. Steve Dela |

Steve, I just got back from checking 3 of our local walgreens here. They have the old style in the pinochle cards only. I agree with you on the old style, I love how they are thin. I have 2 old decks that have been through hell with me and they still fan nearly perfectly. I don't know why they had to go and change them.

The new studs are thicker, I would say they are slightly thicker than bikes.

Other stores most carry those same cards as well, eh?
HOw can you tell the difference just by looking at the unopened box?

Yes thicker than bikes. I went ahead and picked up a couple decks to see if I would like the newer style any. If you have ever toyed around with the cheep 50 cent gemaco decks, they are about that thickness.

I don't get it, what is the big deal with these? What is the difference between these and Bikes other than thicknes? Is it really worth all that trouble? I will go looking for a Walgreens around here (Nova Scotia) and buy some to see what it is all about.

I tried to get Studs for a long time, and I finally got some. I prefer the old ones when it comes to feel, and the new ones because of the colors. I still love Studs though, thinner or thicker, they are Studs!

There is a massive difference between playing cards and how they handle mainly due to their thickness.
Whilst most people will argue over one back design over another, it is reall the thickness and finnish to the cards that makes the pros wish to use certain brands. I am not so anal that I don't use other brands. I prefer tallys (lol for the back design) but Studs are the best for me becuase they are so soft. Steve Dela |

I am the same way Steve, Tally HO's are my deck of choice. Well those and Tactical Field Bikes. I found the studs one day waiting for my meds to get ready and decided to buy a deck and I fell in love with them. For me the handle the best I have ever had.

We are a rare breed Corey, not many other stud lovers (thats sounds wrong)
I wish a load of use could club together and get a custom order for 10,000 decks in this stock. Maybe get 20 of us to have 500 decks each? will never happen...lol, oh well. Steve Dela |
