I think it would be nice to have a post where poeple could just list where they live. If someone was looking for help in their area or traveling to another area and wished to meet up with another magi, they would have a place to look for such a person.

This would be voluntary of course. Each person could add their name and city and possbile their magic interests.

It's in member Profiles.
If you click on a member's avatar, or shadow bunny, you can usually read more about them.

Info as to where a member is from, their interests, etc, is voluntary and many members prefer not to divulge that information.

Personally, I would like to see more people add their location. Even if it's just their state, province or country.

I have often commented (lamented is probably a better term) on how little information people seem willing to share on the profile, yet think nothing of asking questions that may require quite a bit of thought for a decent response.

I help strangers when it is possible, but never as much as I do a friend.

If you're planning a trip, you check out or post in the So happy together or The Marquee says forums.

utting a post would work some but the time frame is limited to who sees it, as some people are on the Café every day or week. Then when it hits page 2 it's history and forgotten.

Clicking one's icon is only good if they have a post. It also seems like a strech to just go through post and check peoples icons then hope they may have an interest in talking to someone coming through town.

I just thought if their was a place for this it would be an easy point of reference. Plus, if someone new who doesn't post much sees someone local it may be a great help to seek that person out.

I am curious as to why so many are afraid (it seems) to divulge information about themselves. Personally, I prefer openness and candor.

There is one other option but it is only based on the members profile. Click on the members tab on the upper right corner of the page. Then click on the column titled "from". The pages be sorted alphabetically according to the location entered by each member.

That is good to know Dave. I must confess I don't know how to enter info and change my icon and such. Is there instruction for all such things on the Café?

Curt, yes. Most of the instructions you need to make changes are found in the FAQ section.

If you just want to change your profile information, click on Edit profile at the top of the page, you'll have to enter your password and then change or add whatever information you want. If you want to add a picture avatar, just follow the steps in the FAQ.
