Hi!
On page 166 of T A Waters' "Mind, Myth and Magick" is his variation of the "peek as you tear" CT. I've experimented with it, but peeked information is always upside down - try reading that in a pinch! If anyone has had experience with this CT, and overcome this problem, I'd be grateful of a Private Message telling me the procedure. Perhaps my book has a printing mistake... |

Hi there
No, there's no misprint in your book, or else mine has the same one... You just have to change the orientation of the billet before going into the tearing process. In order to make things easier, prefold the billet in a non-symetrical way, so that you have a definite knowledge of the orientation . This may seem a bit cryptic, I'm sorry. If you look at Lee Earle's Center Tear videotape, you will understand what I mean. By the way, IMHO, the Lee Earle's method is way superior to Water's (and you always get the writing staring at you in the right direction)... Hope this helps. Don't hesitate to PM me for more details. Best regards. Eric.

T.A. Water's "Centear" is the one I've learned, after having tried Bruce Bernstein's and tried to follow Richard Osterlind's (from seeing his lecture, his version was out of print at the time). I just pre-fold the paper (during the presentation) from the bottom up, then with a "mountain" fold. It works for me.--Wrong! Leave it to me to mess up my own description. If you fold from the top down then "mountain" fold (free edges down)it will be in correct position. Sorry. (edited 11/11- 11:29 am

Ted Lesley has a nice CT routine. Described in both Paramiracles and his new DVDs/Videos.
The problem with the sort of method you describe is that one day you are going to get caught out. Its not the kind of technique you want to use when your participant writes something in chinese or something (you laugh..but I've heard many a horror story about this sort of thing) Regards, Kris Sheglova
The above is all rubbish, except that which you chose to believe

Hi,
Kris has a good point and I have had this happen to me! If you can duplicate the shape to some degree ( I lucked out it was very simple) it can be very impressive. As to direction... I too have had trouble with getting the right orientation from book instruction. The key seems to be practicing with different orientations till you find the right one. Not to mention extra practice never hurt! Stan |
