Reed, who's upset?
Sorry I was so obtuse--I actually thought it was way cool that you got the routine to work! And I'm really not so attached to these ideas that I can't stand to see someone (who knows what he's doing) change them. Don't take the crying smiley too seriously, dude. I can't wait to see you do this. I just wanted the folks at the Café to know that you did it first. Hey, and that other bit you told me about on the phone, kills me. You gotta send me one of those, what are they? Bathsheebas? To everyone else, all I can say is, it's a bit that involves a muscle pass, and it ends with the word "satan". People scream. All good things in the right circumstance. Mav, this is a good one-on-one: Two coins. One rests on the back of the spectator's left hand, held just below chest height, about center of body. The second coin is hidden in RH MP position. RH also holds Specy's palm up, RH just below his left. Note that in this position, the spectator's L arm blocks much of his view of the under hand. Call attention to the coin. Display, and then Pinch vanish it. It looks like the coin is squeezed into the back of the spectator's Left hand (see "England's Penetration") At the same time, MP the hidden coin so it flies up and hits the spectator's hand on the palm side. S feels the coin go thru his hand, and land on the hand below. Here's another application: perform a simple vanish, classic palming the coin in the RH. Move to MP position as you [pretend to swallow the coin. Place RH palm up, pinky against the stomach. MP the coin, it appears to pop out of stomach.

wooo, I was worried for a minute there. I thought I crossed a line or something.
The thing I have is a baphomet. It is a disk that is about the size of a half dollar, one side is silver and the other is black and silver and has the star of satan with the goat head ingraved in the star. When I do this for people at the club it really freaks them out. I have had people throw the baphomet, scream, say woo cool, I can say this is one of those items that is so simple and it just kills. I have kept it secret from all of the magicians here in Portland. Not that I would worry about them TAKING it, but, some things are just to good. I need your address I will send you one Curtis. The routine will be on a dvd that will be out soon. I am proud of this piece. It will be in the next set of lecture notes I print up. cheers |

Curtis, Reed,
Have you guys heard of Jet Coins before? I think its by a Japanese magician? And is basically a coins across, using the muscle pass... If so, can you please give me an explanation of this effect. Many thanks once again, MavericK |

Mav,
"Jet Coins" was written up in Genii about five months ago, I think. The originator is (and now I will proceed to butcher his name) Akira Fujii, or something not very close to that. I understand from other posts elsewhere that he was a student of Mutobe, of the palm of the same name. It's a three coin routine, and MP is used to invisibly squirt the first one across, and then a multiple MP is used as part of a click pass. Very clever, although I think the audience has to be entirely in front of the performer. The view from the side is a whole different show. (Still amazing, but a different show)

I remember watching the routine and thinking, wow this is very cool. It was in Genii awhile back. His penetrating cigarettes were awsome. And probably some of the best work on matrix you have ever seen, next to David Neighbors.

Okay, Mav, one more:
Four coins in a clip are in MP position. The hands also are displaying a scarf front and back. As you turn your body, the stack of coins is shot silently behind the scarf, to the other hand, allowing you to show both hands empty. Consider doing this with single coins into a glass. The glass is covered by the scarf, and you're holding one corner of the scarf.

Here is a coin production I came up with a few years ago.
Start with three coins classic palmed in your RH. Reach out with your RH and produce one coin from a candle or arm, whatever you choose. Toss it to the LH showing the coin in the LH. While showing that coin, release one from your RH palm to finger tip rest. Do a shuttle pass with the coin in LH for the coin in the right, again show the coin in RH as you classic palm the coin in the LH. You now have a coin classic palmed in each hand and one at the right finger tips. The coin in the right finger tips bring it to waist level using Malini subtelty with the coins in palm position. Hold the coin at the finger tips thumb on top, and first and second fingers on bottom. Do the same with the LH. So as you are looking down the coin is parallell with the ground. I am trying to be as graphic as I can with out pictures. Muscle pass the coin in your LH, classic palm to the RH while holding the first coin in the finger tips. This looks weird because a coin just popped out from nowhere. Showing both coins, tap them together a couple of times keeping a coin in each hands fingertips. Now for the knacky part, with the third coin in classic palm, RH muscle pass it and catch it between the two coins in the finger tips. This is one of my more favorite coin productions. It will be in one of the dvds I am in the works of getting together. Hopefully will release in the next few months. Hope you like it. If you have questions I will post a reply. thanks |
