I've recently moved to a new area where I'm hoping to perform kids shows in this untapped market. The county is one of the wealthiest in the nation. Hence, many people are very wealthy, but perhaps the majority are average income or even a little less. How do I price my shows to be able to take advantage of both halves of the market? (Any specific suggestions for prices would be apprecciated!)

don't advertise your price I would suggest not just having a single show but a whole lot of things to sell as well so the poor people only buy your kids show standard you alseo have a premium show and all the extra goody bags so that people who are poor will go for the budget show and the rich people will buy the premium show with all the added extras. It's about giving people a range of options to suit their budget the higher the budget the more they can buy from you. |

My point is that you should not spend time marketing to the lower priced shows. It costs the same and the return is bad. Work smarter not harder because invariably you will run into a situation where you have a low priced show booked and a higher priced show calls up for that date. You can't cancel the lower one so you lose money. Price your show high enough to make enough to live with the shows comming in and do things to increase business THERE instead. Why go for less money when more is staring you in the face. If you have an inraoad into the higher paying shows market them and them alone! Be agressive about it and be smart about it. Then there is no kicking yourself for taking smaller paying shows. You will be the guy worth X amount of dollars and that is that. The more high priced shows you do the more you will book. You book work from work. Why not spend your time doing high end shows and then getting more of them, rather than booking smaller fee shows and booking more of them. This leaves you less and less time for higher priced shows. Just a thought.
