One of the fringe benefits of working for activision is that I've had an early version of their game on the hard drive of my development xbox for a long time. Unfortunately, most xbox 360 games are just straight ports. What I mean is that they get upgraded textures, possibly upgraded character models but very little else depending on time. This isn't true for Project Gotham 3, Kameo and Perfect Dark because they are exclusive. However, for those of us that are busy working on developing for PS2, Xbox, 360, NGC, PSP and PC concurrently it's unlikely that any of those skus will get much in the way of platform specific love. PS2 gets the most work because there are at least 5 times as many PS2's as any other platform. That's where most of the sales will come from. Also, although it's not exactly accurate to say the xbox is more powerful, we think of the PS2 as the lowest common denominator because the CPU is only 300 mhz. However, when properly utilized its graphics system can typically outdo that of the xbox. At least, it can push more poly's. That's why a good PS2 game can look as good or better than an xbox game. The only advantage the xbox has is hardware antialiasing which was promised for the PS2 but doesn't work. Consequently, we have to use our fill rate and cpu time to smooth things out if we want the smooth anti aliased look. The current generation of games, with the exception of games put out by Microsoft studios that are only available on the xbox, will look better on the xbox 360 but it's a toss up whether or not graphical improvements are enough to spring for the console. If you don't have an HDTV then it's really questionable if you want a 360 because HD is where it really shines. If you look at it on a regular TV then the xbox version will look pretty similar or if you've got a high end PC you should be able to get as good or better graphics out of the PC version of the game. In the end, the platform to buy is the one that has the widest array of games that you think are fun. That's why I love my Game Cube, not a lot of games but all of them are just fun. I love my PC because it plays first person shooters better than any console and my wife can watch TV while I'm playing I've got all the other consoles at work and play a PS2 or an xbox game occasionally but mostly for reference. Most people love the PS2 controller, but I think they need to have the left analog stick and the d-pad exchange places. And it needs better buttons as they wear out way too fast. I agree that the Cube has the most comfy controller, but the button layout needed work. Doesn't seem to be a problem for next gen, what with the wand and everything. One other thing I like about Nintendo is how sturdy everything is. |

I hate CS Saucy. I went back too 1.6 where the gameplay is much better and the hitboxes are kinda in the right place.
I read that the X360 has 3 2ghz processors!!! Wowser if that is correct! I never thought I would not like Nintendo. Now they are digging the biggest pit they can and are reading the wrong plans to top it off. They started digging with the N64 and have since managed to make all of the wrong moves in a playground of bullies. Now the rest of us just laugh at the kid with last years toy. Nintendo is that kid. BTW Game and watch still rules, I will love Nintendo for that gift.
