I'm interested in which Rhine symbol you think could be a psychological force in the following set-up.
Using a table top you place five standard size Rhine cards in the following positions. In the shape of a square with one card in the middle. The size of the square is not an issue, it's the positioning for a possible force I'm interested in. Upper left corner is the star. Upper right corner is the circle Bottom left corner is the wavy lines Bottom right corner is the square In the center is the cross. Say the cards are a foot apart from each other as you look down at them. The star of course in the center of the square. When a spec looks at this arrangement of symbols do you think any particular symbol is being psychologically forced? |

Nice layout. When I understood you right you corrected that the star is in the middle. So IMO at first glange I would say that the star psychologically is ruled out to its obvious position.
So I would go either for the upper right corner (circle) or the lower left corner (wavy lines). So if I had to choose one I would to for the wavy lines because IMO psychologically its the one that is standing out less obvious in a kind of protected position. But I want to mention one interesting point I discovered throughout some performances. Often there can be differences between left handed and right handed persons. In your example a right handed person most likely could choose the lower left corner (wavy lines) since the right side is the strong side and thus the lower left corner the "most protected" and not obvious position for the spectator. But a left handes spectator possibly would choose the upper right corner for opposite reasons to the right handed person. that's really an observation I made sometimes. Especially in a layout like yours which is a bit wider than usually with cards this can play a bigger role. Just some thoughts Greetings Thomas |

One person is looking at this exact formation of symbols. What would you say to them to get them to choose the symbol you think is the likely force position.
star*********circle *******cross******* wave*********square |

Again nice layout. Well if I see this now I almost would say now that my force (and the likely psychological choice) would be the square. Since you write the words a square is more common to visualize in mind.
If instead of word you would show the actual symbols you alsocould go for the wave. So some words could be: "Now in a moment I want you close your eyes and make your mind completely blank. On the count of three I then want you to open your eyes again and let them circle around the layout to choose just one word and imagine the design this word describes. SO if i.e. you choose the cross just imagine the desing of a cross in your mind or a beautiful star. Everything clear. Ok now close your eyes and relax... make your mind completely blank. relax and take deep breath. You feel how your mind gets lighter and lighter until its totally blank.... Now on the count of three open your eyes and let your eyes wave around to choose one of the simple designs...1, 2 and 3, now open your eyes." So that could be one suggestion. IN this extreme example you mention all words but the square. And at the end as you aks the spectator again to choose a simple design I didn't mentiond choose a word so they are more likely tochoose the suqare since this is a simple desing. At least much simpler than wavy lines what could be the other possible choice. Just my suggestion that came to mind right now when I saw your wonderful drawing. Greetings Thomas |

In a setup.... 1 2 3 4 Three is the likely choice. For some reason, I keep thinking upper right. Don't really know why. Peace, Parson
