In my younger and wilder days I used to use one in a Chrystal Casket. A mouse will fit just fine. Get a volunteer to "help" you hold it and "have a scientific thought". Hold on for your life! They get in a real hurry sometimes once the mouse appears!

I used to use small White Mice in a Cups and Ball Routine. Always got a good reaction at the finale! *evil grin* Fun stuff!

Rats have a great deal of potential. They can be trained to do many things and are extremely smart. I would give it a try.
Maybe you should scent a card with cheeze and train that rat to pick the card out of the group. In the performance you can do a card force on an audience member. Place the forced "cheeze card" among a group of cards, then explain you have with you a special guest...a reincarnated mystic who had such bad karma he came back as...well... a "lower life form." The famous Mystic Rat-a-touli. (Sorry) (ha...i bet you use this!) I bet you can train the rat to do this because I trained my maltese dog, Godzilla, to do this and rats are supposed to be smarter than dogs. It can be a very funny bit. Good luck! MorningStar
Wonder is very necessary in life. When we're little kids, we're filled with wonder for the world - it's fascinating and miraculous. A lot of people lose that. They become cynical and jaded, especially in modern day society. Magic renews that wonder.

Oh wow I've used two white mice in conjunction with my Malini Egg bag routine when I first started really working on that routine a few years ago. Dropped it since then. I've also used the mice as just straight productions, splitting one into two and then joking that they kinda resemble doves, etc. Then putting on on my shoulder and it just sat there. Then did a multiplying mice routine; just using some sleight of hand moves.
best regards, Matt Tomasko
