I know I can inquire about the illusion to Mr. Allen at Owens. But Since I am not a serious buyer at the current time for this Illusion, in a combination with the effort and customer satisfaction that they go through with verifying just for a price quote. I just wanted some information on the effect, from people around the Café that may have had any experience with it or have inquired about it themselves.
I was wondering what the price quote currently is on it. It is one of those effect that really caught my attention in the Brett Daniels MONTAGE titled video, here is the link to his site. (http://www.brettdaniels.com/BrettVideo.htm ) and also when I saw it on their Site. 1 because it is just a beautiful vanish to watch but mostly reason number 2, Which is the creativity of the illusion. The concept or plotline I should say is a very interesting story and new approach to presenting an Illusion without a corny patter. It is very open ended on ways you could take it so it seems. Also I am guessing that Owen is the only builder that makes it. But is it most likely possible to do it with a more simple base and prop. It would probably help financially with what I am sure is a very well built but expensive Illusion. Here is the Link to OWENS page with the Illusion, Its at the bottom. http://www.owenmagic.com/Illusions/Illus......s_5.html Always Inquisitive, Jared |

I have always loved this routine. I perform my entire show as Charlie Chaplin and have always thought this would be very cool. Currently on cruise ships in my one man show I use a screen and have recorded some footage (me as Chaplin) and come to life walking through the screen. It's an 'old' idea. At the end of my entire show I walk 'in to' the screen and the movie takes over with me walking off in the distance as Chaplin.
I like Owens because of the scenery etc. Regards Paul

My partner was talking about doing a Chaplin routine when we met this evening because I started talking about this illusion and the themes it brought to mind... strange to find both topics in a thread. Your act sounds very interesting. I think I'd enjoy seeing it.

In the Magic Auction site there is a base combo made by Magic Makers for auction that can used to perform this effect. It is almost at the bottom of the page.

Be remembered for performing what looks like MAGIC, not skill.

Hi Nell
I've been performing this Chaplin act for the past 15 years now, and it's taken me all over the world. For the past 6 years I've been performing the show on cruise ships. Visit my website to see some video footage. The entire act is all original material that I've created or had created for me. It's always a work in progress. I also tour on land with various illusion shows as opening act or a guest act. Just finished a tour last week and start a theatre show next week. For the first time I will be performing my entire act with a live vaudeville band backing me playing all the music from my show. We are performing it in a theatre here in Vancouver where Chaplin himself appeared, it's an old vaudeville theatre! Chaplin wrote so much music for his movies, and in some show on cruise ships I play some of the tunes as Chaplin on the piano. For years I have seen the Owen illusion and it really sounds great. I have an idea that I'm currently working on where the curtains open to a 'poster' of me as Chaplin, there is a 'puff' of smoke or something similar (maybe air canon) and the image of Chaplin is replaced by me. At the end of the show, I stand in front of the poster, hold up the curtain and I've gone and back on the poster. Regards Paul

I hope I get to see your act someday. I am a huge vaudeville and classic film fan. Obviously combining magic with that theme would be extrememly appealing. Best wishes on your upcoming show!
