"Instant Download"

When it actually means "As soon as I get around to it Download"

Ha, old thread but here are a couple most irritating ones:

"Packs Flat, Plays Big"...wish I could never hear that ever again
"gets your creative juices flowing"...it just sounds gross

Anything with a bunch of generic reviews from "These top magicians" (who are probably friends)
Organic (Totally agree with Dougini)
Literally (and it usually is not)

Yup! "Organic" according to Webster's Dictionary, is an adjective ("how many, which, what kind of") it means: "relating to a bodily organ". 2nd meaning:"relating to living things"...3rd meaning: "relating to or containing carbon or its compounds". --Advertisers depend on "words that sound good".

Most of the PROPS in my act are what I call generic (means "general", "not protected by a trademark") (Remember the cans with WHITE LABELS in the super markets about 10-12 years ago?) The tricks that I do with the "generics" require skill, and/or knowledge of principles!

I use mostly rope, (knots, Prof. Nitemare, Norwegian YOYO) silks, (color change, Slydini Knots, 20th Century) coins (Misers Dream) ETC. Such props are "generic".

The egg bag, linking rings, comedy balloon pump, are "dedicated" props. They are made for a specific trick or routine.

End of "sermon"...

I always wondered, "If you pass gas in church, do you sit in your own pew?"

Best magic effect in church. Aa a dollar bill is dropped into the collection basket, a tenner is snatched out with a finger clip
and then visually tossed in also. Works to either impress other contributors, mask your own poverty, or to conceal the fact
that you swiped Uncle Willie's ten spot as it was a passed down the row. (a double sleight).

and, you would never believe what famous magician shared that was what 'they' did as a kid.

MELT THEIR BRAINS!

FRY THEIR BRAINS!

DESTROYS LAYMEN!

KILLS!!!

Are we trying to share a magical experience or do we want to harm and then lord over the shuddering, unsuspecting populace? This kind of ad copy makes me wonder what their target audience of "magicians" is. People who want to entertain, or people with a self-esteem problem? Smile Smile These ads seem like they're targeted to the same people who do sucker tricks just to tell people, "Ha ha! You're stupid!"

I understand we want great reactions and we want to fool people- I just hate these ad copy buzz words.

Another one is FOOLS MAGICIANS! I don't perform for magicians. Smile
Magic is the bacon in the breakfast of life.

God bless you and have a magical day
