I like his style! He's young, hip and is selling to a specific audience!!! (The younger generation, although I am sure there are many other age groups that are and will love this guy!) If Justin Timberlake and the Backstreet Boys are making millions and have fans worldwide then why shouldn't there be a magician with the same sort of look doin the same? Don't get me wrong I'm not comparing him to a pop star but if you take DC, he made it for what he was back in the 80's the same as Paul Daniels did here in the UK. What Daniels did back then I don't think would work in 2005 (not neccassary the material but again, the look!!) It's all about trend, the same with music! Just my thoughts on the subject!

I had a chance to see this show in Atlantic City and I had a layman with me and neither of us were entertained. Some routines dragged out forever and went nowhere. I'm sure Curtis is working hard to improve things, but that should have been done in rehearsals with a good director, not during a run on a showroom stage. I hope he's made some improvements in time for his Vegas shows.

Morning coffee ... what are you kidding .. he's not up until the afternoon. I think some of the junk he uses on his hair is soaking in. Back to the topic .. didn't Franz do the whole "Magic Rocks" thing .. even before I copied him? That's right .. it's all coming back to me now. I did the "Magic that Rocks" theme back in the late 80's .. strange but true. I guess what's old is new again ..

Ok guys...don't mean to be still leaving you hanging, but I'm still really really busy...but I'll leave you with this cliff hanger: lots of dancing...lots and lots of dancing and the ONE thing I saw him do well was the floating rose 2 feet away from Kevin James. he handled it VERY well with Kevin being right there...but the rest of the show was...well...you'll have to wait until I get a free couple of hourse to write you my book report. Sorry guys, hope that'll hold you over for desert...

Saw the show and chatted with Curtis after. He was really genuinely kind and wanted to know what everyone thought. I'm tired too Dan, but here's something to get us started in our review. Overall, Curtis is a little wet behind the ears (23) But, Wow, what illusionist would think to learn hip hop dancing like that? What originality, and what charisma. Some things drag on too long and the audience is clearly too old to really get it, but I'm confident Curtis will have it all if he keeps on this path. I expected to see a kid who spent a bunch of money on big props pointing at flash pots. But I was pleasantly surprised to see this kid was on the right path and understands or at least is trying to find the real essence to entertaining with illusion. I'd have to say the biggest flaw is that it's performed AT you. There needs to be more "Stop, Listen, Connect." I think Curtis will develop this in time. Here's what the show is:
1. DANCE OPENING 2. VIDEO SCREEN TRANSPO 3. CROC. HUNTER IMPRESSION 4. TOUNGE PIERCING 5. DEATH TRAP 6. DANCE 7. TWO DIMMENSIONAL 8. SQUEEZE BOX WITH VANISH 9. STATUE TO LIFE 10. SUB TRUNK 11. ROPE THRU NECK 12. ANIMATED SWEATER 13. FLOATING ROSE 14. HONEYMOON PREDICTION 15. SMASHED AND RES. LAMBORGHINI 16. CHERRY BOMB VANISH 17. MOTORCYCLE VANISH

Tell us more about what happened in the motor bike vanish illusion please? JA |

Alexandermagic New user Las Vegas, NV 22 Posts |
Regarding Motorcycle Vanish. It's probably one of the weaker things in the show. While conceptually great, it comes up a little short. Curtis has a Ducati bike sitting on a circular base. He gets on it and spins in circles, reving the throttle with each spin. Smoke comes out of the base (apparently from burnning rubber from the circles) until the whole stage is smoke filled. When the smoke clears he and bike are gone. A second later he's standing in the back of the theater. Well, the smoke takes too long to clear, there's too much of it, and by the time one realizes the effect the impact is lost. Plus, it would be so much cooler if he could appear in the audience riding on the Ducati.

Great review Alexander. Our newest member, Jason Alexander is currently and consistently selling out Tony Clark's production of FUSION 2 at the Horizon Casino in Tahoe, NV. In February 2006 Jason will be moving up to a much larger venue where he will be performing illusions that have not been done before. And why am I telling you all this? Our company and a group of investors who have seen Jason's impressive Press Kit will be spearheading the upward move for Jason in four-walling the venue. Anyone wanting to get a glimpse of Jason performing some of his older material can visit http://www.alexandermagic.com. His newest material is being developed now. Any Café member wanting to see his show can contact me thur a PM.
Everyone, have a great Christmas & safe holidays. Bill Thomas

Mr Bill,
If you click on the link supplied by Bill Thomas it won't work for you as he included a period at the end of the web address. Click on your own link and you'll find it works fine. I made it though 8 minutes of the video. Best, Tim |
