We've been having fun performing this, Parson, and we're liking it more and more. It's an efficacious combination of old ruse with new path. Thank you again for your gracious correspondence as well.

Thanks coupcoupdaddy, et. al.,
It really can be fun. Parson Posted: Oct 29, 2008 3:56am -------------------------------- It has been a year since we visited this topic. The trick is a good one. An ungimmicked deck is used. A person freely chooses a card and signs it. You take the card and put it back into the deck. You ask the spectator to try and determine at what position you placed the card. They always get it right. I will still teach anyone who is interested. Peace, Parson

I've refined it.
There is no need for a wallet that will hold 26 cards, this is simply solved by having 26 wallets, each containing one card. But I have finessed this still further, and have had my best jacket altered so that it contains 52 hidden pockets, each large enough to contain a wallet. (This could make the trick completely impromptu, as there is no longer the need for a deck of cards. However, having a spectator sign a non-existent card has proved to be a problem so far. Still working on that.) I am also currently learning Harry Lorayne's memory system so that I have a fighting chance of remembering which wallet is where in my jacket. Also, as we are now coming into the colder weather, I will have more opportunity to perform this, as sadly during summer temperatures wearing the jacket tended to result in heatstroke setting in before I could do the reveal. I am also working on throwing in a number of spurious sleights and flourishes, which I believe will add to the effect enormously. |

Parson's method is pure gold.
I tried something a little bit different my self not as superior as Parson's method but I am going to share it here. In my case, no deck is required for the selection. You just ask a person to name a card (have them face you and their back to the audience) when he is about to say the card you secretly close their mouth and use your ventriloquist skills to fake talking for them. This action is also repeated for the number 1-52 with a different spectator. I hope you like it and use it, I know I wont!

Very good question!!!
I can't tip the exact method I use but I will inspire you by saying that it has to do with sponge balls if that makes any sense!!!

Harlequin,
I hate to admit this, but........ While I believe my actual method is considerably easier than the workings of your effect, yours would have a much larger impact on an audience. Peace, Parson Addendum: Thousands of magicians(well seven) have asked for the "secret" of this trick. Those who have been wise enough to ask have come away with a totally free, basically impromptu, simple to perform card miracle. Take care, Parson
