Performed the Happy Birthday magic drawing board from axtell this wed.(1st time) for a 4 yr olds birthday party and it was one of the hits of the show. Other than of course the bunny vanish and production and the chair suspension it was a great addition to my show. It kept their attention perfectly and entertained the adults as well...
Thanks Axtell for a great routine!!! |

Look at my picture - Axtell has made the props that are earning a decent part of my living.
His special effects board is a truely amazing prop too. I use one in my family show to produce a rabbit out of a drawn hat and another in my advanced show for older children to mind read and have a chosen card rise out of a drawn box of cards. enjoy, Dani |

The birthday cake one is good too, from what I hear.

The cake one is good...I've seen Johnnymagic do it justice. You just have to practice the timing!

Here is an update on Steve Axtell Houdini Axrax CD. I am placing it here in the littling darlings section because it really focuses and is used just for the kids.
Axtrax CD Houdini for the Axtell Drawing Board A couple of weeks ago, I received Steve Axtell's NEW Axtrax CD for my Axtell Drawing Board. I've done ART-O-MATIC and yes its a good script but I was looking for one I could use that was more educational. This CD talks about, in a funny way, Harry Houdini. It's perfect for a library show, Daycare/Preschool children and your School Shows. It is well designed and easier to learn than ART-O-MATIC. The reactions of the kids are the same with most of the Axtrax CDs. Lots of surprises and laughter. Houdini even does a funny trick. If you have already done ART-O-MATIC, than the transition to Houdini is easy. I have "Walzing Matildia" (The simple easy to do dancing hank) and use it with the cloth and it adds to the end. It's a slight change enhancing the disappearance of Houdini. For the 14.95 Steve is asking, it is an inexpensive funny routine. If you don't do the drawing board, you are missing out on a great Kid Show routine. I love it, and highly recommend it. I've also purchased Houdini, and I love it. I normally have to edit the routines slightly, but haven't had to with this one. I would highly recomend it.

I read thge script and it sounds great. If the CD and the sound effects are as funny and entertaining as the script reads, it surely is something that would play quite well for any kids show.

The birthday cake Axtrax routine is a key feature of my act, and always gets applause ("Don't applaud, it only encourages him.")
HOWEVER..... Every darned year I resolve (and forget) to change the "OK, everyone blow the candles out..." part. 20 kids, all blowing straight at you, multiplied by X number of parties per winter equals GUARANTEED cold or flu for you! I just gotta learn... |

Hehehe that is funny in a warped kind of way. I mean seeing that many kids blowing out the candles is hilariopus but I can totally agree with you about children being magnets for germs and colds. I just got one now and trying to get over it. I guess we never learn huh?
I am going to invest in some Axtrax this season as well. I love the scripts I have read and I have often always used my own scripts and tracks I made up myself, but Axtell has some pretty nice routines that may go over well for my various new shows. Have to place it on my to do list for 2006. Kyle

On the cout of three all blow the candles out. On two all suck in like this and get a big breath, then on three blow the candles out..
One... Two... (They all suck in together and I'm being pulled in to because of the draw) Three.. (and I'm blown back) Sheeezzzz, wht do you think you are??? Vacume cleaners??? (Gets a laugh)

We also have a new "Birthday Party" AxTrax Wide-Open for any puppet (5 voices to choose from) at http://www.axtell.com/axtrax.html
It is one of several new CDs we have just released with more on the way. This new concept of putting 5 voices on each routine really opens up your options and gives you more routines for any puppet you work with. Steve Axtell

Everyone....we have had a few requests for AxTrax with NO LINES for the performer. In other words a monologue from the puppet.
You would have the kids give the puppet applause and bring him out as he talks and sings. Your reaction would just be to look excited and comment about what the puppet is doing without any specific interraction. Would this also be a good idea for magicians? Instead of AxTrax Wide open, I guess these would be AxTrax Closed tight! Ha!
